Tech support informed us
There is nothing they can do
For the signal sent by Sirius
Won’t work with Subaru.
Not all cars have been affected,
Just the Foresters (of course!)
And the techies have been working
Hard to find the problem’s source.
We were told it’s like amnesia,
So the radio forgets
How to access all the stations
And the tech guy had regrets
But he couldn’t fix the issue;
Ours will stay an open case
And they wonder why technology
We old folks don’t embrace!

Humpty dumpty
Humpty Dumpty sat on the firewall
Seeking open ports through which to crawl
Finding one he went on a brawl
Lo another insecure server fall
All the kings techies and every nerd
Plugged the gaps flustered and red
Like a rabbit Humpty Dumpty had bred
And on all the computers he had spread

Children of today breathe computer ease.
Things that take me four hours come instinctively to them.
They can do in four minutes what takes me nine days.
These born techies learn applications instantly.
I cannot keep up, and I am wise enough to know it.
They are all eager to help me, moving way too quickly.
Doing six key strokes, explaining four of them.
They computer the way the rest of us breathe.
I wish they could slow down their instructions
But they are six, seven, eight, and they are not wired to be slow.

Declaration of Independence
By Franklin Price
11/17/2020
Not yet were we a country
Not yet the U.S.A.
England was not listening
To what we had to say
Had no control of what we did
Not represented for our tax
We declared our independence
A short summary of the facts
Today we find ourselves again
At a freedom ending place
Technology and ultra-rich
Are taking England's place
Mass media now striving
To take our rights away
Amendment one is almost gone
Of the how and what we say
They began with good intentions
At least it seems that way to me
Where friends could get together
Where opinions could be free
The masses caught on quickly
Made these Techies ultra-rich
Now they think they know it all
And Mass Media's a
Money is not everything
No matter what the raves
The rich think that they're our owners
We should not be their willing slaves
Centralized communications
Now control us at their whim
We should declare our independence
And take our freedom back from them
Time that we released ourselves
From Mass Media control
Return the power to the people
And raise the flag back up the pole

In season 6 we have been stuck
And numerous calls brought no luck.
Episodes 8 to 10
Left us wondering when
Into episode 9 we could tuck.
It’s a problem, the company said,
But we’ll fix it; why don’t you instead
Stream it on your TV.
If it’s smart, you won’t see
The omission that you seem to dread.
Since our TV is dumb, we were screwed
So we paused and some other shows viewed,
But today, a surprise
And a sight for sore eyes
For the show we were missing’s been queued.
We had almost accepted defeat;
Thought the season would stay incomplete
But the problem’s resolved
And the techies involved
Gave my husband a real birthday treat.

To any “techie” its a must,
To own the latest hand held device.
But when others are speaking,
Paying attention would be nice.
If we’re in conversation,
And you start texting, I view as rude.
I’m being blown off,
As being some doddering old dude?
By this hand held monster,
Many seem to be inspired.
I’ve been told its being social,
With no face time required.
Many seem to prefer,
Letting their thumbs do the talking.
To a technophobe like myself,
This gadget finds me balking.
With this hand held monster,
“Techies” have become obsessed.
Grabbing it each morning,
Before being fully dressed.
Now, It isn’t that I’ve become,
To old and decrepit to learn.
But its about respect and privacy
That’s causing me to spurn.

Some have lost the ability to use their head,
And depend on gadgets to get by instead.
A Phone, Pod, or tablet now fills each hand,
And in certain venues they should be banned.
I’ve sat in church and observed others texting,
And this, to me, has become quite perplexing.
Distracted, I think, why even bother to come,
As I muse, why this, they can’t refrain from.
“Techies” can’t wait for Apple’s latest upgrade,
While I sit thinking they’re just being played.
Like sheep they stand in line at a local store,
To be fleeced for a device they’ve fallen for;
Technology has made our lives so much better,
Giving us aspirations of being the pacesetter;
Technology, now, is nearing an insane extreme,
But an enormous boost to poor self esteem;

I dreamed once a future
with Mary and her long claws
suspended from a dragon body
captive and held by force field
hidden beneath a big cowled robe
saddened by a stainless steel trough
and a baby tended by robots.
Joesph busily scanned nametags
from angels misting purifiers.
The drummer boy stood by self-playing
digital drum and keyboard
while field hands guided home cattle
with drones directed by a joystick.
The tri-satellite video capture
appeared simultaneously
on all earthling implants
and all tipped with a click and smile
but when the three kings zoomed in
from Mars on hovercraft,
everyone reposted. Alas,
it was all an eggnog induced
hallucination cured by my analyst
mind wipe. Merry Christmas Techies.

While waiting for my MRI
And nervous, I will not deny,
The techies then guessed
That a music request
Might calm me, so I did comply.
I naturally chose rock & roll
Since being absorbed was my goal.
With my eyes tightly closed
All the words, I supposed,
Would keep butterflies under control.
So the clanging began, as it must
But the music helped, as we’d discussed
Though the very first song
Made my panic prolong –
Queen’s “Another One (me!) Bites the Dust.”

When it comes to modern technology
The word “bozo” suits me to a “T”
I quiver and shake and tremble all over
When my computer asks questions of me!
Think to myself “If you're so damn smart
Why are you asking this old guy?
I'm back in the days of peck-peck-peck
On my typewriter listening to hi-fi!”
I'm at an age when the brain doesn't work
The way it did way back when
Wait a minute, I'm not sure this old brain
Was that brilliant even back then!
Some of us guys were born to be techies
I'm just happy being real simple
Totally content in my own little world
All the girls just love my dimples!
I may be a bozo but I'm a happy bozo
Not familiar with that techie talk
Made it this far without hurting my brain
Technology's a total crock!
