They say he's more than just a man
They say he had a talisman
For his arms are full of power
They could climb a soaring tower
He trains his brain to catch the rain
He trains his heart to beat the strain
His brain works almost everytime
He makes his brain and body rhyme
He trains himself everyday
He doesn't take a holiday
He holds the greatest talisman
For he is a hard-working man

pharaoh's scarab
eternity's talisman
regenerative
afterlife rebirth
ancient Egypt's obsession
winged scarab takes flight
great significance
scarab held in diseased hand
talisman of hope

a child collapsed cold in the garden
talisman waved with the wind
violently close to a pardoning-
hardening, molding the kin to her seam inter-winged
horribly marbling volatile harmony
azure veins fold under skin- jittering
gently golden it stings
effigy holding the strings
partially fondling close within cartilage-
pieces now bloom into things-
before following-
thin choreology
thew ending progeny
posed they erode intermittently-
honestly,
iridine progeny,
how are you possibly
watching atrocity knead etymology
skin abound covering, sleeving impossibly
sinew renewed where it feeds on bare faucet leaks
farther it blossoms then seeps something bodily
oddity, pardon me
lovably blue and it bleeds out so audibly
fissure pains bottling
lowly imposingly-
nearing a prophecy
budding up slowly to figurehead modesty
petals all grown out- they shelter so somberly
flay splayed out flower-wise neatly and modestly
peaking autonomy
inky tear conjuring
pink from the fostering
nauseously
cautiously failing to breathe

Persuader inside me
dark sweetness cajoling
A talisman dangles
—the present foretold

It seems to me that
Dawn is a talisman of sorts.
I construct honeyed, passionate poems
In the earliest hours of day.
My words are so mellifluous,
I read them aloud until
The cracking of my voice
Pulls me back into reality.
The serenity of writing when all are asleep
Is simply ineffable and I cannot
Think of a better time to be an artist.

Down the steep mountains and into the slopes,
Darting divine etched twixt duration and existence,
There run the graceful gazelles and fiery antelopes,
Until their breath retreat watching other presence.
Wildebeests rushes by ceasing the opportunity to gain,
Nature’s bare feet turning brown sand on the beach,
Big pebbles not indelibly seen as the smallest sandy grain
Leaving the prints in the ambiance of moments they reach.
On naturally crafted street hides the African talisman,
An indivisible Art where halo glows from a graceful arch,
Sheen shine covering emblem moonlight glowing skin,
Fears not the forces of evil camouflage on parade march.
Lucky charm, African talisman within the veil well-armed
Beyond this man is a distinctive phenomenal spirit,
Striding out against human endurance already formed
From the bloodline history, ancestral traits inherit.
We of mortal multitude find ways to survive and strive,
Sometimes the heart run, walk and mingle in the crowd,
A silent portrait shroud the pride unfolding in the Hythe,
The future is bright but the course takes a grim road.

You are not a good person at all
If you don’t promote what is good
And prevent things which is bad
You are a person indeed mean
When you suppress the meritorious
And accommodate the undeserving
The place is not really the good one
Where dissidents are not tolerated
And treat well who are in the opposition
Your education is totally worthless
If you don’t have the ability to distinguish
What is falsity and what is truth
Your life is really a nasty big mess
When you are fully capable of
Yet you refuse to differentiate
What is wrong and what is right
Your mind is a stinky rotten piece
When you have adorable love at hand
Yet you go spreading abominable hate
Your soul is not pure and lively either
If you hold malice against the race of man
And talk ill out of bigotry or prejudice.

take this ribbon, spuned into

The witch & I are one
He cast a spell over the moon
He promised me love
He promised it soon
I dove into a cauldron
Headfirst into a brew
I needed a phoenix talon
To wash my heart anew
The witch & I are friends
He gave me his talisman
We wrote out names in blood
We were both freshmen
On a tree our names engraved
Running through hemlock groves
Swimming through moonlit waves
Our friendship grows into a cobalt haze
The witch & I are one
He cast a spell over the sun
He gave me his wand
I gave him my hand
Through blood we are saved
A different brood
Going through a faze.

There, in the sand, you found me
I stood out, alone,
brighter than all other stones.
Shaped by time, and polished by the tide,
you thought of me, just a simple thing.
That I would be a memory,
a keepsake of a better time,
when sadness was not a wound against the sky.
I cannot solve the problems in your mind.
But as your fingers reach deep to seek and hold….
the coldness of my polished stone,
I will remind you….
As you rub my polished hide
and hold me in your palm, keep remembering....,
that time can smooth, and time can heal,
and comfort all the qualms
of a troubled world.

The Talisman Ride
The Talisman rides by my side
My life is over there’s nowhere I can hide
The lone crow does a fly by as we ride
A dead manatee has washed on beachside
Only moments until I’m not alive
His sharp knife is pressed with the blunt part in my hide
How did I get here, what rules did I not abide
I want live to continue, I cannot lie
What did I do wrong what was my crime
All I did was to enjoy my life
Why was his madness generated when I smiled
Now it’s time for my live to subside
With my blood draining I’m barely alive

In many hands to hold beliefs,
Be it rabbit foot, or four leafed.
In which to trust, to lessen harm,
Against all odds, a lucky charm.
The totem pole and tribal dance.
The ritual of life seems circumstance.
The tribes of man the earth holds dear,
Depends on such when fear comes near.
We cater to luck, as it fills us with hope.
Some would say that it helps them to cope.
Lady Luck doesn’t always look down and smile,
But it’s nice to believe for a little while.
A symbol of something, hope, to believe in,
In hearts of many men and their seedlings.
To aide themselves the best they can,
Deep rooted in each, their talisman.
