Talisman

In many hands to hold beliefs, Be it rabbit foot, or four leafed. In which to trust, to lessen harm, Against all odds, a lucky charm. The totem pole and tribal dance. The ritual of life seems circumstance. The tribes of man the earth holds dear, Depends on such when fear comes near. We cater to luck, as it fills us with hope. Some would say that it helps them to cope. Lady Luck doesn’t always look down and smile, But it’s nice to believe for a little while. A symbol of something, hope, to believe in, In hearts of many men and their seedlings. To aide themselves the best they can, Deep rooted in each, their talisman. ©.L.Kelly

It's true we cling to tokens like clovers, horse shoes and rabbits' feet in hopes they will bring us luck. Having hope is important, but we often find that our faith will bring us more luck than the talismans. Very clever, Lindsay. I see you are pretty new here on Poetry Soup and your writing style is a most welcome addition. I look forward to reading more of your work! Love, Carolyn
