Today April 06,2020 in my city
In the time of return home from my office
In GEC circle I am advised by a duty police to stay safe from nCoV-19
'To wear face mask and wash hands'
I was laughing at the advice with my inside mind
I do not know actually
If wearing mask and washing hands can save a life
Then no need to live with overall neat and clean body,
Then who will wash the most used and poisonous taka, every seat of buses
Then who will save thousands of homeless street beggars,
Then who will save the poor sweepers, blacksmiths, potters, burga farmers
those who live always with filthy dust, dustbin, rubbish, mud....

Musical love
Our love forged on the Mount Fuji
Dining, wining and dancing to the beats of Garbage Fuji
Many times shot were we with the film Fuji…
We sit crooning to the songs of apala
Where the drummer frenziedly beats the apala
Our dance steps perfect to the beat weren’t palapala…
And we also saw the need to sing our own juju
Stringing beats of love, people wondered we used juju
Young, old danced, fell in love – unscared of the ojuju…
We are not musically like Fela
But our love for good makes us Fela
We are nothing but jolly good fellas
Who will gleefully dance like Rockefellers…
The power of love will make you sufe
Like the days when our parents danced taka-sufe
And we near-nakedly played, hopped in turns at suwe
And innocently called all Hausas Sule…
I won’t leave you beloved – hence this waka
The song of mothers birthed from love, sang despite shouts of waka!
From neighbours, far and near, as they rock us to sleep – shaking their baka
To their own sonorous voices, with no instrument – unlike the commercial waka!

Mr. Robinson’s going into a coma
Slowly… gradually…
All his family’s seeing him
But nothing to do anything
Mr. Robinson’s going into a coma
What a deep sleep it’s!
How much long a death is it?
Little by little Mr. Robinson’s
going to be unconscious…
The sun will rise in the east
The sun will set in the west
Moons…
New moon
Half moon
Full moon-
How many silver moons as glittering coin of 5 Taka*
Will come and down in the night- sky?
Mr. Robinson will sleep for how many days
And his family will stand beside his bed
Being anxious family members
Will stare at him for how so long…?
His body’s going to be frozen
Sense’s going to an unknown world
Heart beat’s being slower
Mr. Robinson’s going into a coma
Slowly… gradually…

Tutampata tu, tutampata
Kwenye Milima na mabonde tutampata
Kwenye maziwa na mabahari tutampata
Tutampata tu.
Kwenye majiji na mabarabara na manyumba
Kubwa na ndogo,
Tutamsaka na Tutampata
Kwenye mapango na mabonde tutampata tu
Hata kwenye shimo lenye giza na mifereji ya maji taka
Tutampata tu.
Tutampata , tutampata
Chini ya mti na chini ya nuru ya mbalamwezi
Kwenye Jua kali na kwenye milio yamatarumbeta
Tutamsaka, tutampata
Tutampata tu.
