Premium MemberFantastic Four

Reed Richards, Mister Fantastic, a logical wizard,
Susan 'Sue', invisibly caused many a blizzard.
The human torch, Johnny Storm, who caused blaze-smouldering flames
Ben Grimm, the monstrous thing, who, with his stone-like flesh, played games

Traditions they trespassed; boundaries they bound; Chores ignored;
Subdued the subversives; tackled the terrors; caused concord;
The king rogue Doctor Doom, planet-devourer Galactus
The bleak realm's Annihilus... each they crack as though fractus

Brisk, like lightning or thunder; shape-shifting when needed;
Brim-filling optimism and integrity, well-wielded
They were, yet, true human beings with hearts of flesh and blood.
They could, however, survive midst dire drought or fatal flood.

As global celebrities, as unconventional friends,
And as invisible miracles with fulfilling ends
They expanded the Marvel Universe and its ventures.
With all spider-web-like intricacies and indentures

Keep Your Heads Buried

Do ostriches not watch the Capitol's public hearing?
Afraid Donald's name will be sullied in the smearing?
He's a black sheep that subversives keep on cheering,
He's a coup conspirator everyone should be jeering.

There's not much worse than a closed-minded fool
who allows him/herself to be used as a political tool.
Politics is as nasty as the overflow from a cesspool.
Trump takes a dump and his cohorts praise his stool.

Jim Jordan and other Republicans refuse to admit
that Trump controls them and they just won't quit
condoning his lies and alibis, and why do they do it?
They're ostriches who keep shoveling his stinky s...

Keep your heads buried. Sooner or later you'll see
that continuing to believe his BS is a damn travesty.
He's divided Americans on issues. What a tragedy!
If re-elected, he'll expect to be called, "Your Majesty."

Lincoln Cathedral

Saints, gargoyles, Kings, and imps,
mix, match and mingle.
The beatific and the ogres
hang over slate roofs
like drunks at closing-time.

The stone-masons were subversives,
they must have drank on the job,
yet Remigius de Fécamp, Bishop Alexander,
and St Hugh of Lincoln
all signed off on this unholy riot.
Fire and earthquakes only encouraged
more irreverent flamboyancy.

Gradually `Mary Mother' took over the house
sweeping granite spiders out of the atrium,
boxing the ears of errant goblins,
yet much medieval and Gothic dangle remain.

The effrontery of it all,
all those capricious aberrations,
lead us to believe, not so much in God,
but the sheer immensity of our
rebellious and disorderly minds.

Vision

Gazing at windmills, dare you see Giants;
Call impossibilities imposters,
Incapable of withstanding your blade?
Or are you fearful of approbations
Of insanity insinuated
By the ignorant? Only Quixotic
People possess dreams consideration
Worthy – visions demanding better days.
Status quo subversives – call them poets,
Persistent purveyors of personal
And societal Dissatisfaction.
Excuses excluding innovation,
And personal insulation must go!
We can, shall, will resolve persistent pains.
