Stem the tide your pride rides
To a puerile pinnacle
In a vain belief it makes sensational strides
When like a locust your spiracle
Exhales carbon dioxide
To catalyze photosynthesis for red roses in your green garden
While your pride derides advice and pays a hefty price dockside
For endeavouring to harden
The thick skin your pride grows
Any time advice draws nigh
To plant seeds and grant benefits in rows pride throws
Away preferring to conjure up delays
In opening the hermetic door
To the bunker where pride slays
Emissaries of advice on a cold floor
Where to smithereens pride crushes advice
Slices its fragments into a powder every hour
Inviting a swarm of lice and an infestation of mice
To overpower and devour harbingers of advice deploying devastating power
Advice harbingers couldn’t summon
In the face of impending death
As Pride brags ‘Advice, come on
So I increase my wealth, exterminating your health.’

A SPIRACLE LEAP
The spiral staircase made her high heels sing.
Round and round, Suzette tapped a snazzy dance.
Her smile sparkling, ears dangling with butterfly wings.
Curves on fire, tights and a bodysuit, tighten his trance.
Her sugar cane a la morse code, a hypnotic prop.
Brady’s heart making love, promising everything.
The wings of her bedpost become a silk backdrop.
Occasioned honeymoon, death claimed her wedding ring.
From here the City churches pierced the mist,
shrouding every living part inside his tortured chest,
clamoring to raise the dead, in rage, with tentacled fist.
Like a hammer to a crucifix’ nail, he pounds his breast.
The creak of her satin-lined coffin, pure and white,
speaks to his quietus soul — her shut eyes aware.
Suzette spoke in a spiracle leap, from the box, sans sight.
He closed it, and, now smiling, crossed the square.

I pondered the dandelion and its dazzling deed.
Some folks think this fluffy flower is a worthless weed.
But deep down inside its transparent fluff,
a thousand tassels hide in a sphere of spiracle stuff.
Embryonic umbrellas cuddle in cocoons,
until April’s sunshine tells us a miracle is coming soon.
Mystified and wondering, I was shaken from my dream,
and abruptly stopped my pondering when I heard a scream,
As my wife descended like an Afghan bomb!
“Go out and mow the weeds,” she said, “which last year you called lawn!”

Oh spiracle sight-
will you drop me and break me
lest I ingest of an oxygen taste?
Everything now is indulged ultraviolet
Compounding eyes, allegorical face
Liquid from apples returned to the ground
Nectar envisioned it brings
Breathe me, receive me
It's chemically easy
as spiracle siblings attached on the wings.
