Premium Memberstrangled in her own messy maze

Her mood was somber, gloomy, macabre, sad.
Napping all day, nothing made her feel better.
It was raining out, terrific day for a funeral.
Too bad she does not know any dead people.

She returned to her bed, hating herself.
Missing her therapy appointment, but not caring.
Too down to want to get back up.
Her house is a hoarder’s house.

There are barely paths, no one could visit.
Not that they want to.
Her relatives quit her a long time ago.
She has not had a friend for years.

Cats are her companions now.
Her dreams used to be sparklingly wonderful.
Now she has nightmares.
Dreaming of herself getting strangled in her own messy maze.

Premium MemberLotus

quivering dewdrops on Lotus
                       leaves, remind stark impermanence
                             of life, every droplet shaking
hint sad truth of worldly transience!

                           Lotus, the most gorgeous flower
on earth, rare to vision around,
                             floating in miraculous streams
                        where nature's sacred songs abound!

Notes: The lotus has a life cycle unlike any other plant. With its roots latched in mud, it submerges every night into river water and miraculously re-blooms the next morning, sparklingly clean. In many cultures, this process associates the flower with rebirth and spiritual enlightenment.

Premium MemberEaster Sunday 1959

Easter Sunday 1959
We were sparklingly modern
Petticoats flounced down the sidewalk
Boys wearing dark suits with clip on ties

Brother was reluctant
My cousin and I were delighted
Loving our new Easter bonnets and gloves
Lacy white anklets decorated our shoes

We felt pretty, and we were
We went up the church steps all giggly and giddy
Excited to show off our finery

Forgetting how painfully long
The reverend always rambled on and on....
Soon enough wondering if we would ever get to eat our chocolate eggs

Premium MemberMaiden of the Falls

The heat is searing
Humidity high
Cooling required
My body cries

To the woods i head
For i know of a place
Where privacy allows
Ones body to grace

A ledge of old
Amid a clearing of green
Where the birds rejoice
In this beautiful scene

Before i arrive
You can hear the sounds
Of clear crystal waters
In rhapsody rebound

I pass through the lush
And my eyes behold
A maiden so shaped
With hair so gold

The water cascades
From this ledge of old
Sparklingly clear
Crisp and cold

Downwards it flows
As my view enthrals
A maiden so beautiful
Neath the falls

Inspired by Carolyn's Haiku " Showering 'Neath the Falls "
