Premium Member The Next Generation

That little boy who I used to tickle
And helped learn to tie his shoes,
Just called me up on the telephone
To give me the happy news.

That young boy who I taught to wrestle
And watched him practice football,
From half way across the world
Made me proud with just one call.

That young man whom I saw graduate
From High School then Navy boot camp,
Just phoned to let me know
I am going to become a Gramps.

How is it that this little tyke who only yesterday,
Was riding upon my shoulders is an expectant father today?
How is it that my hair has turned, from black and then to gray,
And now that I am even older has completely fallen away?

The tears from my right eye, are tears of pride and joy,
The tears from my left eye, miss my little boy.
I was just getting used to the fact, that I’m old enough to be a dad
When I get news a grandchild is on its way – oh, yikes and egad!

I guess it could be worse – this news I did receive;
Knowing it makes my father a GREAT-Grandfather, gives me some reprieve.
A new generation, like it or not, is on its way;
“Congratulations, Son”, is all there is to say.

Premium Member Ditsy Moment

Ditsy moment, wow!
This takes me back a few years
I think I was aged about twelve
It left my father in tears

It was on a summers morning
I was sound asleep in bed
Subconsciously I heard my father shout
And throw something at my head

"Hey James get up,
Your going to be late for school"
I sat up straight in bed
Hurrying not to break the rules

Quickly I got dressed
As I rushed for a bite to eat
It's then that I noticed my father
Crying in his seat

His tears turned to laughter
As he struggles to calmly say
"I'm sorry my son I just couldn't resist
In fact it's really Saturday"

Looking back at that time
Today it's still funny to me
But you really had to see
Me sitting up as stiff as a tree

Father and Son

Faithful and a friend who will defend to the end.
Always there when you need a friend.
Thankful for a loving son who cares.
Helps you and he gives you hope with his prayers.
Especially tries to know and meet all your needs.
Regardless of your circumstances, helps you do good deeds.

Acrostic poem of a father and son.
Nurtured in love just having a little fun!
Doing all he can to teach his son to be a man.

So here I stand, and dad I'm grateful for your helping hand.
Occasionally I was hard to handle but I made it to the end.
Not only were you my father, but you were my best friend!

A Living Legacy

A Father and his Son
No relationship like this one
An uncommon bond between two
In each others hearts through and through

Love like no other
Masculinity now uncovered
Shielded hearts by manly domain
When together they feel no pain

A son’s second shadow
Rest assured he’s always there
When times are at there worst
He assures there’s nothing to fear

Advice and good wisdom
A Father gives these each day
A son takes these words to heart
And uses them another day

Teaching skills of his past time
A son watches from behind
Playing catch in the backyard
And Fishing for the first time

A father and sons relationship
It is something truly divine
Heart warming emotions flowing
Something every father and son finds

A Fathers living legacy
The Holy Grail in a son’s hand
Through his son without knowing
A Father lives again
