What weaponry would she not wield to win

She’d hypnotise, entrance in playful fun,
Annoy, amuse, play-sport, or depress men,
Embrace often as snub, damsel doe-eyed,
Hijacking heart, would show no compassion,
Wonder, what weapons would she leave aside?

Translation (quintain) | 25.08.2025 | woman, weapon, win
Note: Here is a verse from Bhartrihari’s Shringaara Shatakam (hundred verses on love and romance). Once a woman wins over the heart of a man what all would she not do, the poet wonders (meter: Vasanta-tilakaa). Here is the transliteration:

Sam-mohayanti madayanti vidambayanti,
Nirbhartsayanti ramayanti vishaadayanti |
Etaah pravishya sa-dayam hrdayam naraanaam,
Kim naama vaama nayanaa na samaacharanti || 21 ||

Premium MemberThe Night Light

It was after midnight,
when he slipped out of bed,
careful not to disturb,
the trailing streamers
of dreamers in la la land.

The house held its breath warm—
willing all within its walls
to stay asleep; not be stirred.
The creaks of timber stairs
were never heard, never slurred,
to blurt out their secrets and
break the stark, thin, brittle hush of night.

As he snuck into the kitchen,
the night light came on,
saving a bare-foot snub.
As he stooped to open the fridge,
he saw the note she left on the door,
from the day before, saying:
“I forgot to tell you the milk's a little off.”

He smiled at the crooked charm of the message,
feeling a ghost in the whispered warning.
Fed the milk to the cat.
It purred with delight.
Sometimes he thought, such tiny phrases,
slip in before they're noticed,
curdle before you taste them.
Only to slink away with a sting in their tale.

With that, he nodded and returned.
The fridge door slammed itself shut.
He wandered back to bed, on tiptoe, making no sound.
He left the light night burning,
for the shadows that rose on the landing,
and for the cat.
Both slunk away, back to bed.

MEDIATION

A couple of days ago
I had an encounter
It was very educational
Many lives in illusion
They're very delusional
If you're not aware
You'll fall in their well
Then You start living in a warfare.

They believe in illusion
Which is void
Thinking it's reality
No wonder
Christ was crucified
The truth is really bitter
They all like sugar coated lies.

The work they put in
Is different from what they want
Show them love
They'll still snub
Because they're domb
Just to feed their norms
Always following societal programming.

Love or hate

How Long a wait will my weak feet endure?
For many years On your snub I still wail.
Yet Veils of lies don’t cover your allure;
Your Elegance I still cannot but hail.

Your words Often fail to convey passion,
Your heart Remains closed off to compassion,
Since you Heave out too little in response,
Within the Arcade of hatred you ensconce.

With Time, you confound me more with your love,
Though Elusive, it descends from above.

Premium MemberGrady Lost His Lady

There's an Irish lad named Grady
Who confessed love for his lady
Sadly, she blew him off
With a snub and a scoff
For thinking his motives shady

Grady's heart was torn asunder
She stole it like thieves steal plunder
He threw a gauntlet glove
Waging war against love
Claiming romance was his blunder

He changed his mind when he met Vie
So he gave love another try
But she ran off with Stan
Then left that man for Dan
Grady had been just one more guy

Months later, Grady was smitten
When he fell in love with Kitten
All he could do was stare
At her blue eyes, so fair
By that feline he'd been bitten

Premium MemberThe Upper Crust

Where learned men converse
On college grounds traverse
Those lads debonair and debutantes fair
With diamonds in their purse

By limousine conveyed
Their education's paid
A most common tale of Harvard and Yale
Where seeds of affluence laid

When privileged young voyeurs
Become doctors and lawyers
From arrogant perch they snub and besmirch
Sneering at Tom Sawyers

Under thumb of those knaves
We become but their slaves
Placed in the dust by the cruel upper crust
With no names on our graves

Hello Palestine

Hello Palestine,
have you seen the headlines today:
400 US federal workers tendered their resignation over the war, seeking ceasefire. And a Vietnam war veteran donated his pension to Palestine relief fund. Also at Brandeis the president was sacked for violating US Constitution, and was seen packing back to a Kibbutz near Gaza. Send them back, I say, to disallow infecting American democracy such. Palestine will never be free when those scoundrels have the upper hands.
And this just came in, sky over Gaza is clearing, the mist is gone and plenty of sunshine for the foreseeable future, enough to bring the birds out again, singing to the tune of Glorious Palestine, from river to the sea, this holy land shall always be free from the smug of racists and supremacists, clinging to their dystopia of land without Palestinians. Their days are numbered and nightmare is over, hello freedom, hello justice's return after the snub of cold shoulder for a generation.
Gaza cafes are now open again, markets filled with fresh fruit, and children playing with new toys donated from good will citizens of Tel Aviv and East Jerusalem. It is good to live free again.

Inside Beauty Not Out

Girls and guys should NEVER be
Fixated on someones beauty
They should look from inside out
To know what pretty's all about

Big blue eyes and a dark tan
Makeup in boxes and cans
Hair fixed up in different styles
High heels that can walk for miles

Stockings made of pretty lace
All these things are just a waste
That covers up what's in your heart
And that's where people need to start
Looking first and they will know
A persons true and inner glow

So please don't snub someone who isn't
All decked out like a nice present
They just might be someone who
Can be a special friend to you

Premium MemberThe Mean Girls Club

I heard that there is a group called the mean girls club.
An elite group of poetesses that some like to snub.
A strong group of women who have each other’s backs,
and band together against petty and meaningless attacks.

There must be some jealousy from some not in our group,
as they continue to throw jabs and daggers in the blog soup.
We enjoy writing our poems as we express our rights,
while others continue to only see us in a negative light.

Let us know if you want to join our supportive club,
as we continue to ignore the negativity and rise above.
I am a proud lifetime member of this mean girl’s group,
and will continue to defend my friends, that is the scoop!

Rantings of the Heart

Be a good wife, and a loving mother;
Of your own troubles, don't give a bother.

Manage your family, make time for them;
Even when they snub you, be their best chum.

Give them unflinching support and respect;
The same in return, don't you dare expect.

In order to maintain family peace,
Just don't give your mind-voice, any release.

Don't break down, whatever life throws at you -
Because that is what we are told to do.

Frequenting Night Clubs

Frequent surfacing in night club
And the Lion sprouts from a cub
Soon, you cease to be submissive:
Life begins to be permissive.
With others you may shoulders rub
Sometimes, sincere courtesies snub.
A used-to-be-meek aggressive,
At inconstancy progressive....

In night clubs be sure of hubbub,
The filthiest thoughts served perfumed dub
Yet, life here should be extensive;
Clubs heal could The Hypertensive:
Others are asleep you are awake
And, for the fun of it, sometimes rake.

Premium MemberWhere's America's Can-Do Attitude

Where is America's 'can-do' attitude
when it comes to the 2024 debacle
If it's Biden against Trump again
    won't we feel we've been shackled --

to a House of Horrors, chains on the left and the right
Why won't we Americans even put up a fight
Let's threaten the networks which air the debates
that we'll shut off our tellies at a minute before eight

And as for primary voting, let's all vow to skip that
If it's Biden vs. Trump -- How the hell can we stand pat
Let's round up some candidates who'll go to the mat for Ukraine
who are ready to dig pipelines and boost nuclear power again

Candidates who intend to balance the budget THIS VERY YEAR
not trick us with gimmicks, wherein massive deficits disappear
Candidates who know how to put the 'Woke' in their place
and let go of the elites' obsession with gender and race

No more Men or women who snub their nose at our laws
and berate those who challenge them with the lewdest guffaws
Come on Americans, let's dig in and roll up our sleeves
and round us up some Presidential timber before Autumn Equinox Eve

To Prepare For Club

Start from you bathtub,
Next, sweet creams to rub
But skin first towel,
This handling quite well,
On one’s face powder
For praises louder…

Then, your clothes put on
Besides your slip-on,
Fast, good belt fasten
But you don’t this hasten
And skip a sewn hold,
As though one is old…

From your used bath tub
To your enthused club
Some food better grub
Against a hubbub…

In a vulgar club
They do eaters snub.

The Colour of True Self

A brand new life of pleasing exposition
Is what lays before you, adore it
Love the challenge to foster thy ambition
And be fruitful but never learn to quit

Bright blue is the colour of life
In trouble, courage should be bright
Never permit the blue when you are to laugh
Seasons are flexible, afraid not of fright

You are shown to destiny from afar
Don't wish to sit steering at its rear
For the share of flash has enough scar
Keep up the fight building a sole career

What's time? Can you remember?
Who dare drag it behind himself?
If no one can take turns to dismember,
Avoid coping with its aging strife

Later in the open, you will see
How young ever time truly is
Blue eyes tight drown some in sea
The strong cope to reach high at ease

Keep inking your mirrored story
Which you shall one day tell
Jokingly proud to snub sorry
And hide the part you dine in hell

Watch out the new life with interest
So keen not to have regret to live with
Thanks again for our aids you had abreast
Whereas, decision-wise, definitely you forthwith

Take Me To Nirvana

At the time, just around twilight
When it’s neither dark nor light
For some profound thoughts to reflect
Snub evil ideas that infect the intellect
Wrap around you a swathe of silence
Peel off layers from your conscience
Where there’s no sense of shame or regret
Feeling neither guilt nor in despair, fret,
Find a purpose in the labyrinth of the mind
How vast our wants, our thoughts how blind,
Disallow all that your teachings suggest
The way to Nirvana within yourself did rest.
