Snowdon Poems | Examples

Wales

"Wales to me is" castles, castles by galore
I'd like to be a travelling man
it's a travelling life for me
I'd walk along the Cardiff road
in the heart of the welsh country
I'd climb the Snowdon mountains
and visit river streams
I'd dance in the arms my lover
and dream of things to see

Snowdonia Walks

I have from craggy Tryfyn
gazed,
precariously crossed crib goch,
to amaze,
looked down from Snowdon,
through the mist and the haze,
Walked all the hills,
enjoying the scene,
the view is inspiring, but also, serene.

I remember one weary,
but very happy day,
enjoying each step as we made our way,
warmed by the sun,
inspired by the sight,
the whole of nature conspired to delight.

At the end of a long trek,
a pub came in view,
We were easily cajoled
into taking a pew,
inside through dimpled windows,
shone the sun,
it's beams through golden glass's,
filled with beer,
created an atmosphere of friendship and cheer.

It wasn't long before,
we were quaffing pints of ale,
Surrounded by some new friends
recounting their own tale.
By now we were hungry,
and the landlord did us proud,
I had a Barnsley chop with roastie's,
and some veg,
and for afters some apple pie.
with custard on the edge.

A Pugilist and a Whistleblower

A pugilist and a whistle-blower

I never thought much of boxing
but I liked Muhammad Ali`s forthrightness
steadfast stood against the storm of
hatred and vilification when he didn`t want
to join the Vietnam war even though
he was banned from pursuing his craft for
three years, the best years of his age.
It took a long time for me to embrace his courage.
It took time to untangle myself from the net
of lies and propaganda spewed by a submissive
press and find the truth and ill will behind
the mendacities of politics.
Now that the great on good hail him and mourn
his demise perhaps it is time to pardon
Edward Snowdon who exposed the dishonesties
of the establishment.

On a Clear Day - Etheree

Snow
atop
Mount Snowdon
On a clear day
visibility
is unsurmountable,
mist can invade in minutes.
Causing treacherous conditions.
carry extra clothes, maps and whistle.
Look and enjoy the vista unfolded.

Fire Song

I crave your fire
your iodine tounge dipped in crystaline words
you tell me the tale of the snowdon sleepers
your eyes are coal
fuel through my vains
cresendo of my heart beat
you build song inside me
hold me, snake charmer!, story teller! lover!
keep me in the warmth of your suspense

Serenade

Like the first dawning
dew drops
Like the fresh scents
of morning
Like cut grasses in
spring time
Like a flower
in new bloom

Your beauty enfolds me
Engulfs and abounds me
Completely unveils me
Makes my heart cry for more

Like the depths of your
valleys
Like the gushing of
geysers (hot springs)
Like the turn of the
ocean
Trickling streams
down the mountains
Like the mists upon
Snowdon
Gently rise
Gently fall

Guess not often
I tell you
Just how much
you mean to me
That my life
would be worthless
Without you to adore

Yes, I'm saying
I love you
And I hope you
are listening
For it seems like
a lifetime
To speak out
surface and soar

Like the eagle
flies on wing
Like the clouds
in the Heavens
Like trees
rustle above
My life trembles
with passion
Let me show
my adoration
My courtship and
fondness
My sweetest amore
