day breaks
house wakes
bright dawn
last yawn
hot brew
on cue
dew dries
time flies
shade trees
light breeze
relaxed
muse taxed
pen’s still
thoughts nil
nap calls
pad falls

they think i am a hopeless loser
with nothing to contirbute
just a snoozer
they dont even know me
beyond those drunken eyes they see
ing ******* faces dried up like raisins
them and their "he said she said" sayings
global warming is a judgement from God
as his temper rises higher and high
until its the worlds turn this time to die
day of vengeance quenched,
as the heat is like gasoline in my midst
i feel inside im burning and burning
i must let it out!
my body is like a Furnace full of coals ignited
and my soul screams fire out loud!
this burning consumes me until i see red all around
maybe one day theyl see what they unleashed
and unbound

Here lies Sidney Snoozer, a lover of sleep,
His last nap eternal – relaxed, six foot deep.

Police and fire sirens blare
An early emergency somewhere
Neighbor’s water squeaking thro’ the pipes
Two cats clawing each other’s stripes
Traffic hums and honks, tires squeal
In such a hurry…what’s the big deal?
Mower of lawns and whacker of weeds
Garbage man missed: in-reverse beeps
Nearby pickup started and revved up loud
I’m not quite used to this urban crowd
Cell phone buzzes, again I slap the snoozer
I wonder: would I prefer a rooster?

Sleep was always Snoozer's best friend
Come morning, he had the shades down,
to keep the sunlight from pouring in
Waking up and getting out of bed
was always a chore to him
Then having to go to work,
man, the drudgery never seemed to end
Taking a nap was his buddy,
resting his eyes was his cousin
He didn't pop prescription pills,
he wasn't a stoner,
he wasn't a boozer
Though he was fond of the nickname Snoozer,
he didn't like being labeled Snoozer the Loser
The way he saw it, sleepwalking
kept him from doing
a whole lot of unnecessary talking
It was win --- win, my friend
Now he never voiced this publicly,
but he thought comas were actually kinda cool
Plenty of uninterrupted sleep;
what's not to like about that,
except maybe being a vegetable tool
So if you happen to visit a large warehouse
in some sleepy backwater town,
and notice a corner office with the shades down
You can rest assured that
Rip VanWinkle's distant relative, Snoozer,
is product testing a mattress on company ground

These days are a challenge, it's no wonder
With this whole world all asunder.
Twas better when I was younger
Unaware of war and plunder.
Or making money to survive each day
Never was this hard, I surely say
Lost it all in a very sad way
I'm obsolete, I no longer play.
I won't give up, I'm not a loser.
I drink too much, I am a boozer.
My thoughts keep coming, I'm not a snoozer.
Please don't judge me, be my accuser.
Am I the only one whose life has become
A daily grind, with fear and then some?
Why can't I find the faith to be at one
To believe life will change, once again be fun.
I need to work for life to have meaning.
To strengthen my resolve, to be redeeming.
Where is the job that I am needing?
Don't want to beg or needless pleading.
I open my heart, my mind, and soul
In the positive vein, I'll reach my goal
Like a crap game, I'm on a roll.
Got out of this rut, out of this hole.
