stones voice, echoes in the distance, a baritone frequency.

they tell of earth’s past, the origin of animals and dawn of man.

Premium MemberJungle Cats

Muscles of steel, needle-claws, scar dense jungle ground.

Human animals try to take huge cats, but you can’t steal from nature.

At best, all of nature responds to mutual respect.

A Hike In the Forest

Forest floor covered, footsteps echo of breaking branches
Sunlight trying to break through cover, unyielding in defiance
Small animals scurry out of sight, hiding in the trees.

Amorous Eyes

His charm captivates me as I stroke his lovely hair
Ohh, his passionate kisses, his tongue on my face, on my neck...
With amorous eyes, relishes his bark, “wuf you, wuf you”.

Big Foot's Tracks

He roamed the Himalayas, leaving footprints on the ground,
But, tired of visitors, he ordered stiletto shoes from Ebay,
And now Big Foot doesn’t wander round barefoot anymore.

The Dancing Sijo Butterfly

The aching wings of the butterfly did quiver delicately.
How with such immortal beauty do you escape my grasp?
Alas my sordid fingers could never uphold such grace.

Premium MemberCat Food

The small brown frog has returned with spring to peep from the trees,
tonight he sits in the yellow porch light and shows himself to me
beside the cat’s bowl he sits, who says frogs are smart, not he!

Early in the morning just beyond daybreak, the cooing of doves
Coo, coo, coo always in threes, conveying to its mate of his love
Soon sun will be higher, proof of love will begin with the feedings

Premium MemberAwaiting Demise

Seagulls saunter the shoreline, nipping at scraps of dead fish

Hunters and gatherers will soon have more than a bellyful

Gils choked by the black tar and oiled wings await Gulf sea life

Survival of the Species

Four chicks forage alone in the woodland, motherless.
Strong of spirit, determined, they hunt and peck anyway.
Before dusk arrived, another hen and rooster protected them.

Stubborn As a Mule (Sijo)

Mule kicked and bucked so high, its
hind legs seemed to reach the sky...
Suffering from many a thing, but vowed
to suffer war no more,
Soldiers differing with the stubborn
beast, learned to sit in peace...

Wishing For Fishing

Skimming the backyard lake water with eyes bent on adventure
while knowing that alligator eyes are skimming shore just for me
I decide on a mint julep and a good book instead...
