Autumn Shrugs

Autumn shrugs off summer 
like Alzheimer's shrugs off
wit, slowly and methodically;
purposeful and nonchalant. 
This dire deterioration
welcomes dank darkness,
chilling and finite, 
long-winded and overbreathed.
October winds shake and stir
the very foundations of our
civilizations, and rock the 
metaphorical boat of blissful
nesciance; eventually capsizing
the bleeding vessel, until its
veins run dry with
suffocation.

"It's time to shut it down, my Lord,
the experiment has failed.
They just get crueler day by day
and thousands more are jailed.

And jail just makes them meaner,
their hearts are filled with hate.
They're cesspools filled with violence

go hungry each and every day
with no place to call home.
