The world too much occupied his mind
left no room for things mundane
busy with intrigues of state and such
from deep feelings he resolutely abstained
So it was on that triumphant day he’d predicted
his country’s president’s assassination
he absent-mindedly fed into the shredder
his only daughter’s wedding invitation

1. Never trust spellcheck
2. Use punctuation only when it will confuse the reader
3. Never trust the mind to capture the heart
4. And vice versa
5. If you must use the word sublime….don’t
6. Don’t try to convince the reader it is great poetry…let them figure it out
7. Remember that it is your blood on the page…don’t let them bandage it
8. Shout at the pencil or keyboard frequently
9. Remember the shredder is not after your words…it is after your soul
10. You wrote it so it’s all your fault stop making excuses

Cold choice, listen to the voice!
Waver filleth all!
He who suffers Sin annoys?
Blanching light, thy pall.
Hated minutes of each day!
Flickering in time!
Doubt belies all disarray!
Drop and drop, O dime!
Slickened hatchet, cudgel black!
Blood along the back!
Stuff the world down bitter crack!
What then profits? Stack?
Weather, winter, splinter!
Shredder, call the storm!
Brutal blight, art beginner?
Blizzard, keep us warm!
Swarm of locust, come like frost!
Hie, O holocaust!
Bargain devil, get me Faust!
Nil regard the crossed!
Ghoul of ancient story;
Where will this dark tale go?
Morning, hast thou glory?
Walk well behind the row!
Yellow king in city vast!
Hang then all from mast!
Rule of law, thy just repast!
End Times, fast! Ye hast...

Harpsichord in heaven?
Cubic or spherical?
Bread, O baker? Leaven.
Just flicker as you fall...
Dancing lights apace in space?
Watch them in her face.
Ghost, vanish without a trace!
Gold, case, carapace!
Desert floor in winter?
No more than one inch, snow.
Shredder, got a splinter?
Tormented, O my foe.
Panels, dance about the night!
Sparks in porcelain!
Falcon, gather wind in flight!
How we'll meet again...
Yellow eyed priest, bid the feast!
Shepherd, are ye fleeced?
Squire, page, are the wheels a-greased?
Only if they're pieced.
Connect, O my fibers!
Build high the city walls!
If they're born to jibe, sirs;
They're bound for taking falls.
Tyrant of the borderland?
Show them how we stand!
Crush them in thy hardest hand!
Order countermand!
Silence in the place of whole?
Remotely control.
Ye gods, what is mortal soul?
Golden light a-bowl.

Paper Man
After work as a to-do list in a jewellery store
Paper Man got drunk on wine a lot,
so a lot of what was said to him
he forgot.
His paper wife kicked him out of their bedroom.
One night he came back so drunk he blacked out
and fed himself into a shredder in the spare room.

May I serve
whatever the capacity --
and not be dissuade;
God knows His faithful,
not by glitter
nor by volume of voice,
but by salves of compassion
knowing no color
knowing no shades
nor party of affiliation
may I nurse humbly, soothing
and healing, while bearing the
stigmata of love --
For Christ-like is a cleanser,
a shredder of sin --
a star of radiance, a moonbeam of
warmth, a sun rejoicing in the
projection of Divine Light
Though tents of shadows
riotous they abound
let not your heart fail
to make the short step…
though the chains rattle
and cuffs’ metal dig in,
no one who moves in
the direction of our Lord,
in good faith, will find
a path more brighter, spiritually uplifting,
for Truth swings wide open Heaven’s door
to even one from grace seemingly fallen
Amen

to leave the eyes that I haven’t seen in a long time
it's sort of a mirror there
where I left myself a few moments
thinking it could weigh as much as love
(I don’t recognise today the definition of the Compromisers).
I was told that the way through the waters
it looks the same as a poem written by him
during the break between classes
time stretched on the torn sheet
in a hurry, from a shredder
the ink rested over the letters
was rolling through the tobacco leaves
your name falling through your fingers
the same as when I was trying
to drive through the water
the many I smoke
all illusion was falling to ashes
when thinking that was the last cigarette
from the package of life
It went out.

It’s years since I’ve been writing poems
So, searching for a topic,
I sometimes might repeat myself,
The outcome quite myopic.
Of course, there are some subjects that
Require repetition
And when I write, I needn’t ask
For anyone’s permission.
Yet on occasion, what I’ve penned
Is destined for the shredder,
For there’s a poem – same theme, but older,
That’s a whole lot better!

One day I saw a ghost leaving
From the house of the dead
His eyes were big and red
With large dark circles
Around them, he had vampire’s teeth
They were extra long and jagged
At the ends, one bite
Would rip your skin just
Like a shredder tearing paper
When he turned and looked at me
I got so scared that I took
Off running as fast as I could
Just like the road runner
Beep, beep

Masks are all the rage these days,
Not knowing when we’ll stop these ways,
If how long live in your fears,
I’ve worn a mask for 30 years!
If you care to guess my name,
Here’s a clue- we’re now the same.
And of trends, I am a setter,
For I am known as the Shredder.
Now and then it’s nice to find,
My metal mask to hide behind.
When emotions start to race,
It’s good my Clan can’t see my face.
Both of us, we had no choice,
To stagger from our muffled voice.
Coming from two kindred things,
For rats are bats without the wings.
It sure gets hot under the mask,
But I’m the one that’s up to task,
And despite my taste for crime,
I was a man ahead of time.
I hope it’s now that you can see,
And have some empathy for me,
So don’t be shy and say hello,
Just watch out for those turtles though.

Tina learnt to knit her own sweater
Instructions followed to the letter
Many stitch she did drop
Gave too many a strop
When made looked like been through a shredder
Next she wanted to learn to crochet
Make flowers tied into a bouquet
Got her yarn in a twist
Knots and ties would not shift
But did look like a crochet toupee
Decided to learn how to hand sew
With pretty ribbon make a hairbow
Kept pricking her finger
Soreness pain did linger
Her fingers now size of her elbow
Not to give up, tried live art drawing
Felt that was her natural calling
Excited and nervous
Felt hot as a furnace
Of male model on all fours posing
No dangly bits was shown to be drawn
Disappointed felt little bit conned
She drew him very well
All her friends she did tell
As an artist was were she belonged.

Shredder aurora
An uni, muenster swisses
into the feta
On the glowing dawn
A gorgonzolaing cheese calls
the moo cow kisses
Meandering thoughts
A pale provolone cuddles
