if a workman leaves he might be gone forever
without finishing the job
we had a workman who would do this
If he took his tools we knew there was no predicting if he would return
Today we heard our workmen leave
I ran outside, my heart thumping
their tools were still here
I began to breathe
Noisy Workmen.
Bang,bang,bang,plop,plop,plop.
Will these noises never stop?
Clang,clang,clang,click,click,click.
Noise will cease in just a tick.
Thump, thump,thump, thud,thud,thud.
There it's fixed, should last for good.
Please take care tell girls and boys
or we'll be back to make more noise.

smoky dingy café,
workmen shout and curse.
She floats among the tables
tending like a nurse, pauses
when she sees me, breaks
into a smile then skips behind
the counter, lingers for a while.
Keeps chatting while she's
serving, shedding all her
pain… then, when
I am leaving,
she becomes
a nurse again
When gentlemen stand up to pee
I wish that they’d consider me
cos I always sit down
In OUR room with no crown
I’m 'hopping' mad as you can see!
(In the UK the throne is another word for the toilet)
Poet's notes ... We had workmen in our house today and they never once put the toilet seat down... it drove me crazy!

The armadillo
In his protective thick shell
Holds not a candle
To the armor protection
Built around his emotions
Holds not a candle:
Meaning:
To compare badly to a know authority_to be unfit even to hold a subordinate position..
Orgin:
Apprentices used to be expected to hold the candle so that more experienced workmen were able to see what they were doing..
All the leaves turned and waved
Before the darkness turned them grey
And buried 'neath the scarlet sins
Were skies so red the poppy grins
"Heed not your torment" old crows caw
"The carriage ride belongs to all"
As monotone the workmen chant
Sixpence for stipples love's recant
"The day will come" the old tree swayed
"Tho seasons change and hearts will fray,
Steadfast your beacon, pointed north,
And hallowed be, your love go forth"

There's nothing you can get done in life without
Knowing mastery of how well to acquire abilities and
talents, there are many workmen and women who are
skillful in every variety of work, there are no limitations taught
skills on a daily basis day in, and day out as we tread this
lengthy path of life's journeys full of history and mysteries of
mastering skills.
