Wonder
By Nathan Hannen
The stars they shine, They twinkle, They align
The season's give, They leave, They forgive
Form:
you mean everything
one body full of wonder
one ready to love
two ready to take a stand
one love will last to the end
Hello sun, do ya' mind?
Your stare is making me go blind.
And as my pupils start to shrink,
I wonder why you never blink.
Love is such a color
That really is a wonder
How it makes me ponder
Will i ever find her
Or will it color me in red
Form:
A one hit wonder is never a blunder- but a once only hit

Oh passionate creature,
Must you desire for such pleasure?
You wonder if there's a cure.
There is. Of that I'm sure.
No offense, one kid says.
But school lunch’s meat tastes like raccoon droppings.
Why would that be offensive? I wonder.
I wonder what the bees' problem with the apple, when the apple don't even mind them. Maybe they just want to have a bite.
COMPASS POINTS
I wander
into the blue
the height
of late summer
Fall's journey around
the corner
I sit & wonder
Wildflowers be wild,
wet with whimsical wonder.
Relentless rainstorms
revel in naive riches
nurturing and rebellious.
There's fire burning
through my veins,
and ice piercing
through my heart.
I wonder,
who will win
and at what cost.
Whenever I die
I much rather they not cry.
Rather just goodbyes.
No pity, nor wonder why,
Just God opening their eyes.
I wonder:
is one man's ballad
invalid
word salad
or a plant-based substitute
for veggie palates?
The lite dime in the ditance
there is a shadow
it is the dream
it is a cloud of doubt
the lite is gelaning with wonder
Jesus was said to have TWELVE disciples,
but did he have any friends?
Maybe if he did, they may have helped him instead.
Am I enough?
I push I try,
Am I enough?
I sweat through the yelling
I cry through the nights
And wonder
Am I enough?
your eyes shine like stars
gazing into mine tonight
arms join tenderly
while visions of wonder glow
you have to believe
Where science ends
poetry begins
The wonder of it all
—questioned again
(Villanova Pennsylvania: April, 2015)
My wonder goes wild:
If mother maketh the child,
Or she's made by child!

We often forget that
Wonder never really ends
People have just pushed love to expired tears
That don’t care about desire
Confusion stains the eye
while the mothers wonder why
all their pretty children had to die
--stray hero
About God's love I do wonder
To not track down would be a blunder!
Secret of the inner child
And before the Lord be mild
I wonder why those who can't understand (my) poetry
Are obsessed with them as they're obsessed with me.

unasleep in my bed I think of you
and wonder where you are
amist the twinkling stars of hue
a lovers wish upon a star
What a world!
Hustler, are you pleased?
I wonder.
In your heart,
Harlot, are you satisfied?
Hermit starves in fear.
