Premium Member Optimism

a lonely country road
wolf pack rustles around
we hear them coming
but hope it is not them
of course it is
but we keep hoping it isn't
until we finally see them
Then we hope they will let us pass
and some do.
Others give chase.

Premium Member I Sensed Eyes on Me

I sensed eyes on me but saw nothing but Arctic white
The sun was high, and the frozen crystals were sparkly bright.
My snowshoes stopped in the middle of the ice, as I looked around
I finally spotted an Arctic wolf pack, sitting quietly next to solid ground.

Premium Member Cyber Shrink

We treat face book like a shrink
but it's nothing but a cheap tabloid rag
truth be damned, we vomit out anything
our dirty laundry for all the world to see...
cyber cowards can't talk it out face to face
slandering loved ones-pandering to strangers
gathering a wolf pack-attacking relentlessly
until there's no more blood to drink
from the tattered family tree

Maple-Eyed Stare

Each night,
He would
Run through the thick forest,
Breaking branches,
Ripping bark from the trees,
With his bare hands and
Biting the air,
With his canine teeth and
Howling at the pale moon,
With his maple-eyed stare
His body growing wide,
With a full coat of
Black wolf-hair and bending down
Beneath the trees, on his hind legs,
He became the dominant
Alpha-male of the vicious wolf pack

Hamburger

Hungrier than a wolf pack hunkering down the hill

A lpha teen male footballers share microwaving kill

Meat tonight they smell and enough to go around

Burgers make them happy and they munch with humming sounds

Under meat they peek to see if pickles thrill the palate

Grudgingly they toss the greens that try to pose as salad

Eating is a joy-- onion ketchup mustard gourmet mess

Running down their faces is a combination guess.

Ill-Fated By Moonlight

Black, bloodthirsty, and hairy
Blood sucking bats feast upon the unwary,
Slurping up their blood like its a dairy
Creatures of the night vary

The wolf pack stalks its prey
Both throughout the night and into the day
Hungry are the nocturnal creatures eyes
Unsuspecting prey will surely come to die

Shadowy breathe flowing unseen
Disturbing the earth, dark essence capturing the scene
Covering like a blanket over the very sea
Running wild and and hunting free

Premium Member Homeland Security

I'd prefer my mania back
Don't give me a panic attack
The TV heads state
Global threats are so great
As part of the blitzing wolf pack

Author's note: Global security is the key to "homeland" security. The real problem with this idea is that it means addressing issues rather than making a small number of people very rich while carrying on hysterically. Is this complicated? I think not. I intend to do the right thing and sleep well at night. I hope you can do the same.

The Wind and Sky

It was in Autumn 's signature
the smell of burning leaves
that I succumbed to
distant drums
And bartered to believe.

Woodsmoke circled round
and round
to show your misty form
you kissed my face
with love and grace
and told me not to grieve .

Upon the hill a wolf pack
howled out my secret name
I shaped replies
in cryptic cries
and begged you not to leave.

You are the wind in winter
I am the Summer sky
the pain is sweet
we never meet
except in dreams we weave.
