Shifted child
hither and away
ripped roots clipped
soil untended
uncertain tender shoots
beneath the snow
fear spring thaw

The untended plant
withers away, leaf by leaf ~
a time of indifference.
Why do we falter,
poised at the divine altar,
blaming it on gravity?

was I asleep
my wandering one
my only friend
my shadow on the wall
dark one
my cave is moist and lonely
it is untended and I feel week
like rubber
let it fad away
oh blue shadow
let me slip into the toom
and dream no more

I do not know?
Her bones were
desolate, cold, unfruitful
Her body was
unproductive, despicable, empty,
isolated, untended, unloved, barren
She stood alone under generations of highly motivated producers
Watiting for a moment that never arrived.
Chosen in no way by no one.

There are cobwebs cobwebs everywhere
Even covering the shelves of books
So many things left untended
All for a single moment's pleasure
Things that shouldn't have gotten lost
things that I should have treasured forever
Forgotten in a single lust
What I have always loved

Makeshift art
patches of cloth
second-hand music
on textbook drums
Cuisine foraged
from lawns untended
literature culled
torn pages blended
Creative genius
knows no bounds
objects of derision
make beautiful sounds

Why me?
The news will tell.
While shopping at the mall,
An innocent bag untended -
Why waste a call or raise a false alarm
For that which might or might not be?
Left in unholy haste.
Preterition.
Not me!

I still walk your streets
for the untended curb,
the flattened can,
the half-opened shade.
I am in the dark,
unspilled light,
uninspected.
I am caught
in the city of cautious regard.
I am not violent
but I wonder what it would take
to crack the cement
and bend the rebar
to let a man out.

Where Broken Hearts Go
Like a mosaic of wilting roses in an untended garden
forsaken by its guardian angel and heaven above
a broken heart on its way home wanders through
a maze of silver-lined clouds at mystical midnight
and finds a new enchanting love…

The unwanted fears I have
locked deep inside my heart
trying not to let my fears out.
No one wants to hear them
Listen I cry trying to find a way
or just someone to hear
The dreams I have tell me to let them go.
I can’t find a way or anyone to hear my cries.
My heart goes untended
The pain rages can anyone help me
out of this silent death.

untended urgency
unequipped for service
ungirded for battle
utterly regretful
unattainable prize
unretrievable loss
unquenchable laments
How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation?

MAINTAIN YOUR FOCUS
by
JOHN M. ARRIBAS
Don’t lower the bar, lose not sight of the goal
Avoid the distractions, that constantly unfold
Zero in on the prize with relentless pursuit
An untended tree will be barren of fruit
Fuel your quest with positive assertions
Mine your resources for creative infusions
Your goal emerges, in sight, continue apace
Successful missions lead to a higher chase

THE OTHER GOD
It is a rare noise I hear.
Those sounds that seem to say:
I could be a pond; or
Have been a reflection.
Knees that are forever bent
Into a prayer of all things.
I am in each thing.
The aspect shown,
The one that is most needed.
The slope of spring untended,
While walking toward an answer;
always visiting myself in stranger’s clothes.
I don’t think anyone imagines
quite enough these days
To meet
Their other God.

With one last look
One might see. In time without doubt
Lost inside love
Remains stand firm on grounds
Eyes everything see nothing
In sight
Two lenses view a world of art
Work untended too
Beings related by
Connected with streams
Light reflects such power
Intensified.
Expansive as one knows to be known
Life lives
Things change
At a glance
The last vision
Remains
And nothing else matters
Except
Vast pictures capture
Everything
With one last look. ..

Epic
Conflagration
Kindling
building upon the edge
of the fortress,
--slights—
real and imagined,
--daggers—
slashing scars
stabbing wounds
untended
--Cupid’s arrows—
piercing a heart
repelled
in stony silence
--Anger’s tinder—
aching
for immolation
--a lone spark—
igniting
the brittle detritus
A Perfect Storm
raging
against the confines
of its life.
