Just Open Me
Lithographed Japanese butterfly frost on the cover
Lime green unlined paper frozen and daring this Indian ink
to seep into her soul, marrying two cultures in word thaw....

The cheerful, glitzy, heart-felt poem danced and skipped so gay.
With terrific happiness she felt in her soul mind.
Sharing herself joyously in a delightful way.
Sharing her words in swirls and curls, paper unlined....

Ode To Hope
The palm
that holds the truth
     is
     unlined

uncorrupted by evil
     pure in its
     self

chaste of defiling
      untarnished
      shining

straining forward
     I reach to embrace
an
     empty
     hand....

Bury Me In the Backyard
Bury me in the backyard
Behind ice cream and hope and faith
Next to dark car rides and unlined highways
Close to wet clothes and loveseats
In front of poetry and dreadful dances
Bury me in the backyard
On top of your hollow grave
Where you refuse to lie...

Gods Country
Gods Country

Gods country as a whole
Is a whole country united
A whole continent un-subdivided
Without senseless violence
In any shape or form.
Unlined
with barbed wire strung tight
Spanning the Pacific to the Atlantic.
Simultaneously
all of it, and none of it
private....

Pre Computer Age By: Miracle Man December 30, 2021 Coffee stains on unlined paper; a number two lead pencil, erasure mostly gone. Thoughts that appeared as vapor; I desired to be prehensile, each break of dawn. What was needed was a short pencil with a long erasure. Tom

I am mesmerized by ever-changing wisps of clouds meandering across cobalt-blue Hawaiian skies. I am mesmerized by whitecaps dashing against coral breakers phizzing out in the sand. I am mesmerized by colorful phrases strolling across white unlined pages.

Ten-Minute Poem
The first minute, blank
brains filled with paper whiteness,
unlined, creative.

The second, third, fourth
go in a whiz, fizz, unpro
ductive row of parts

The halfway point; five
slow minutes; tired poem
drags your tired pen

Six, seven, eight, nine,
minutes leap like frogs in front
of a metaphor,

leaping at the last
minute, when time writes itself
into the whiteness....

Premium Member Inner Beauty
The youthful beauty of an unlined face
Is like the crispness of an unturned page,
Unsullied by the use that lies ahead.
A book to show its worth must have been read.
That glowing youthful beauty so alive
Needs sustenance of virtue to survive.
The trials of life will leave a bitter trail
Where paucity of goodness does prevail.
Lovely the face where beauty dwells within,
Nor time, nor fate, can ere its radiance dim.

Avoiding Chores for Poetry

Mom’s folding laundry as muse pinches me
sheets flapping with ink scolding
I get beat from both sides

unlined bedding is blessed
the future shakes out Mom’s frown
turns it upside down when she reads my best

strike while the iron is hot and frame it
give it to Mom in present
‘fore she passes away

covered with a clean sheet
no poem disturbs her rest
Mom never beat me with her busy hands

The Summer Sun
The summer sun was once my friend;
I basked beneath its glow,
But friendships often fade and this
Was one that had to go.

The younger me enjoyed a tan
On smooth and unlined skin,
But lately that is not the shape
My sagging self is in.

And danger lurks when sunshine
Causes cancer cells to bloom
So by soaking up some rays
I might be guaranteeing doom.

There was a time Apollo
Earned my every accolade,
Yet today I turn my back on him
And settle for the shade....

I gather up my words
barbs that have missed a target
		strewn about rose-like
			………..in beauty’s shriveling death

Inert objects …..injected….infected -
	 a self inflicted suffering -
		dulled daggers of despair
…………..thrust into the soul of speech

This gathering of words
	aching to be free
		to plunge the bloodied pen
			………………into an unlined emptiness

Premium Member Wise Or Not So Wise
There were so many times when sorrow
Brought down my graying head.
I wonder if the trip was worth it
When all but grief has fled.

Chorus
But the light still shines about me,
And love refills the space.
The clear still waters of my life
Reflect an unlined face.

The chase after fame for another
Has left him with furrowed brow.
The riches he’s spent his life seeking
Only make his shoulders bow.

Chorus

We each chose direction to go.
The better choice takes a lifetime to know....
