I made a promise once
If you can win a promise
I won
This promise broke my heart
Shattered it
It's in my body in shards 
Floating around
I move slightly 
It pierces my organs
Unforgivingly

This promise will be the death of me
And I can't wait
I'm looking forward to it

This promise was our love breaking 
My knowing 
We wouldn't make it

And I'm loving the pain of it....

A child's favorite balloon
taken rudely by the wind,
up and far over the hills,
never to be seen again.

Or brightly colored kites,
tethered to our tiny hands,
strings torn unforgivingly,
soar then to forgotten lands.

Nature's lessons, hard and cruel,
chasten children in its school,
teach their grasp on happiness
is fleeting. Such is Life's long rule....

unforgivingly relentless
deliberate its devastation


overnight
the shock sinks in
a silence shuddering
seeping to every depths
of days numbered
uttering its new reality
left shaken to its very core
the aftermath inconceivable
global extermination averted
or likely just delayed
