Premium Member It Will Be Fun She Said
Come on she urged me
It will be fun
It was. Three hour drive each way
I am not looking forward to it

God pushed me down on concrete steps
I caught myself with two fingers
Wrenched my back

There was no way I would go now
Too miserable though
To be grateful...

~ Attention, Comrades! ~

  We have realized our vision
    of systemic equity!

  Raise two fingers in triumph
    'V,' for Victory!

  Every distinction eliminated
    The struggle now won!

  We are all second-class citizens
    Utopia officially begun!...

’Twas a drummer who drummed on his drum using two fingers and his right thumb. To an anapest’s ear, it would sound pretty clear; to the rest, lacked a certain aplomb.

Once a Toro in a Madrid prairie
Wondered why it had two horns, not three
Spaniards signal cuckold
With two fingers all told
So three for Spanish husbands in Paris ?*

The wind is blowing
All the leaves spreading
On the backyard lawn
On the wooden deck
Are a few leaves stuck
Only moving when-
The wind is blowing
One leaf I noticed
I am drawn to it
The shape of a hand
Staring at it-I notice
Two fingers and thumb
This is a leaf stuck
In the crack of the deck...

A Fork In the Road
I am lost in a tangled wood Reaching for a rope like thread Two fingers balancing One, two, three…. Like ballerina legs Gliding along the tendril floor Inching forward, halted By a knotty carrefour The dense foliage Throwing shadows around the cracks Guiding God’s fingers Illuminating the furcate tracks A judgment, God or Heart… Trust or regret… One path forward One path back

Ever Since
dad could roll a cigarette
with just two fingers
and the tip of his tongue
i saw him do this once
in a wind storm

he would shave just close enough
to keep himself grizzled

he could dive into an engine
to wrench a rattle
and make it purr

he was an expert drinker
astounding all-comers

so
ever since
he took a Louisville Slugger
to moms head
the three of us

ma
he
and me
were all astounded...

Life's Trials
Listen to poem:
The world tries to wear you down and use you up.
Just look it in the eye, don't let it sell you a pup.
adversity is sent to try even the bravest man alive
with tests of courage and trials of mind
if it breaks you, keep in mind
That even broken crayons still colour fine.
So stand up tall and speak with pride
no man or woman deserves to fail
so remember to grit your teeth and flash a smile
and flick two fingers at lifes trials...

The Looking Glass Blurred
broken mirror

The ship has gone sailed without me,
alone in a hotel room
I sweat and try to stop my hands
from trembling; where are
all my friends that drank with me in the bar.

They fired me threw me ashore
the bastards;
dignified
Walking down the gangway,
Cheap suitcase
two fingers in the air hiding
My tears
I have to leave this room,
must walk tall, I’m tough
that right, butut first
I need a little drink or two....

CARLIN EATS EM UP----

There was a boy named Carlin
Who used to suck his two fingers
Hungry or not he'll eat up all the food he can find
And then to unwind, he'll continue to eat more he finds
But during a break
He made a mistake, got a stomach ache
looks around gives a call ask his mother for more
For heaven sake boy, save some food for me sis and daddy
What a terrible day for this family

I Never Learned To Type
When I was growing up in school
I refused to take a typing class
My two finger style was sufficient
I had no idea what was ahead, alas

That was in the dark ages when life
Was not lived on a computer keyboard
I advanced to three fingers but I knew
My meager skills could not be ignored.

So I practiced on my computer and then
Became proficient enough to hold my own
Then arthritis came calling to my digits
I’m back to two fingers, here we go again!...
