Notes About The Poem

Collum Lune Tanka (inspired by Sara Kendrick) uses word count instead of syllables)

Today I had surgery for a trigger thumb.

Ambidexterity Conundrum

still two fingers dumb, not speaking to me a numb okay grasping utensils with one hand not a lefty, that’s right

I guess you can really take it for granted when you can have a part of your body that does what you tell it to do.

And how nice to be able to do that, but we learn to be thankful. Hugs

Me too (word count). Poetry Soup should consider this form. I’m glad to be on this side of healing. Not yet 24 hours after anesthesia…another 6 or so. ✍️❤️‍🩹

Mohan, it is chasing me, but I’m swatting it away…at least with my good hand (at moment). Hugs

It's all too confusing to me these days... Now which hand do I brush my teeth with? And is it the same hand reflected back to me through the mirror? ~ Gershon in Wonderland

A striking, compressed piece: the broken phrasing and deft wordplay make the physical disconnection palpable. “Not a lefty, that’s right” lands with quiet wit, while the spare form mirrors the body’s altered negotiation with ordinary acts.
