Glass Rod
You push me around
with careless hands
like I'm a glass rod
on a wind chime
forcing a word
a tune out of me
as the thin thread
I dangle from wavers
and I hold on
another day
before it breaks
and I detach
from the world I know
crumbling
shattering into pieces
End the conflict now
Be not afraid to hear it
Let it fall softly
Listen to the wound
Allow the healing to begin
You do not know it
The reality
Eludes even the wise ones
Striving for freedom
You cannot trust that
Your influence can be heard
Worlds are so varied
Breathing the same air
How can we tune out our pain
Finding our own peace?
Book in my hand,
Sentences beneath our fingers.
Through it, we find shelter.
Lost in a nameless land,
Then taking on a new role.
Showered by golden rays,
Washed by the whispering winds.
Put on our glasses and tune out everything.
Turning the page,
Writing a new chapter.
Together,
Let’s take a peek at our bookmarked place
Staring at the happy ending or lamenting it—
After all,
We vanish from the pages of time.

and criticism
from people
who fear
the unknown
and want to
control others
do not carry
much weight
when it is
known that
most of these
same people
have already
thrown their
own personal
ethics out
the window and
have also
contributed
to the karmic
messes being
cleaned up
to this day--
which is why
we must carry on
and go forth
knowing that
someday our gifts
will help
the community
see more clearly.
I know it's not easy for us to be together but we will
survive this stormy weather others may look down
on us and cause a fuss they will never understand
but I have a plan. If you love me as much as you say
let's just run away, if you need me like I need you then
tell me our love is true. Promise me you'll never let go
of me even when others are to blind to see. Just you
and me let's tune out the world no matter what you'll
always be my girl.

While others soothe or soften.
We perk up for the new but tune out
Those we hear quite often.
To locals, city sirens make
The tiniest impression
But visitors consider them
A barbarous transgression.
The hum of traffic rolling by
To urbanites equates
With cricket chirps or chickadees
In countryside debates.
The noises that surround us
Are as varied as our homes
Or the subjects and the wording
Of a plethora of poems.
