My Herb Garden
My blue terraced pot is alive this year,
Growing basil, chives, oregano and sage.
It sits on my patio in the filtered sun,
Ready for creative culinary inspiration......
Maybe after I finish this glass of wine....

The Light House
The Light House
Terraced light
Holding bright
Effervescence behold
Long lost
Intrepid sailors
Grope for
Halo's beacons
Teaming ships
Home alone
On sentry's
Unrelenting watch
Skippers bastions
Emitting guidance
connie pachecho

Waterfalls
The cascades are descending over terraced steps
I want them to stop so that I can stand by her window
To take her hand in mine with tears rolling down cheeks.

Burnt Verse: the Desert Dance
New crumbled men shift sleeping ash along the wretched Nile,
While tongues of Gods once worshipped fast and glory in their bile.
Their textured sand speaks ancient text of terraced tombs below,
But the desert dance continues on to ruin what doth grow.

Nagacourt, Nepal 2003
The hawk lay upon the lazy late afternoon
air currents;
Floating, circling, spiraling, ever downward.
Its wings spread wide, white feather-tips splayed.
It teetered on the updraft
above the terraced alluvial plains
in the lea of the Himalayas.
Landing with a compression of desire
upon the crumbling limestone outcropping,
It stood preening.
Waiting,
For the next breeze....

Residential Paradise
Spacious comfortable country residence
extended and upgraded, sleeps eight.
On the fringe of a conservation village
elevated distant views, sheltered
solar heating, well insulated.
Sympathetically tucked into a south facing hillside,
extensive well-manicured terraced gardens.
All amenities, motorway and railway within 5 miles.
Paradise on four levels, décor understated
a dusty sand hole, ant excavated…...

Alexandrine, Modified - I Was Taught
My mother and father,
taught me about power,
words and inspiration,
courage, strength and passion,
wish it could be bottled,
because all are entitled,
dad gave me the forest,
mom- her garden terraced.

Craving
This physical world is
a world of blind cravings
Every person alive a mark
tablets of want are stuck
Inscribed on every skin
Red paint of yellow jealousy
shines on every forehead
Terraced feet of crazy walk
indicate world trots for riches
Broken teeth of every human
witness bitterness in crazy life
made in deadlock cravings
Crazy, crazy is human life
searching, searching feet go
but not a single satisfaction...

Pyramidal Design
Tucked away in tiny alleys
Golden secrets in pyramidal design,
Tumbling layers of flats and homes
In blocks of cream and golden limestone,
Indistinguishable behind screens and doors
And built to withstand the heat and cold.
Fertile land farmed in terraced slopes
So precious it’s preserved for crops,
Animals seem hidden away
In sunken pits, not on display.
A different world in the Mediterranean,
So much so it is a haven
Of safety from the wider world,
Let’s pray it can be preserved....
