A Mohawk Moment
In India, Trump had a scare
The Coronavirus was there!
Not one to tempt fate
Trump cancelled a date
He had to look after his hair!...

If to have given
a fragment of me to you
a piece for us both
to build a life’s foundation,
then who indeed to tempt fate.

Whether Forecast
Some people seek fate in the stars
Whilst others tempt fate behind bars
So there is a place
For those lacking grace:

Lost Souls
We spew hat.
We stay out late.
We tempt fate.
We shed innocent blood.
We are called studs.
We lie in wait.
We are always safe.
We take the broad path.
We ignore the narrow gate.
We grow old.
We lose our souls....

A Texas teacher defends U.S. law
   Igniting social media's buzz-saw
Some claims she's racist and mean
   Others toward patriotism lean

   One thing for sure
      I can state
   You open your mouth
      ~ You tempt fate...

I glanced at her nails
  saw fins and scales

Reached for her hair
  Hmm. Nothing there

Took her right hand
  felt just like sand

Looked at her face
  Is she from outer space

Next time I'll not tempt fate
  and agree to a blind date...

   After the debate, Joe didn’t feel great
   He realized he’d better not tempt fate
     I quit the race, he said
     Then he scratched his old head
   Jill will replace me, she hardly can wait

Sometimes just a trim; others, a drastic clip;
around-the-world trip with one mighty snip.

Children and scissors together, tempt fate;
by the time you check, it's already too late.

Like closing hen-house doors after the chicks are out;
no need to whimper, get angry or shout.

She's taken the scissors, achieved a slam dunk;
whacked her dog-ears off, leaving two stubby chunks....

Premium Member My Pen To You
Listen to poem:
Writing I most appreciate
When poetry I can create
Be it a sonnet impromptu
I need every word to ring true
I sometimes open the floodgate
When I only meant to tempt fate
It's often whimsy I pursue
Dreams of Corfu and Kathmandu
Taking my pen I bid adieu
I need to write an ode to you

Queasy
I’m feeling a little bit queasy.
I’m sure it was something I ate.
So I think it be best
If my stomach can rest;
Any intake will likely tempt fate.

My mom was a fervent believer,
When I felt this way, that some hot tea
With grape jelly on toast
Would be better than most
Other foods to bring health back to me.

It worked back when I was a child
But at present it doesn’t appeal.
Yet some chips and a beer
Somehow seem to appear
Like the best anti-queasiness meal....
