Was recalling being just thirteen,
Riding on my Schwinn, it was a metallic green.
To flirt with Tommy,the boy of my dreams.
More delicious than my favorite ice cream.
I wonder...was he as good as he seemed?  
I’ll never know, we never were a love team.
I still think he’s better than whipped cream.

An escapade sweet as a marshmallow day
   when tangerine dreams fed our evergreen stream.
      Our magnet attraction neath radiant ray 
   did butter the air where the breezes did teem
to whirlwind through roses anointing the brae. 
   Their scent, my surrender, romantic the scheme, 
      exotic the fever and dance with a flame —

safe, for a short time, from the terrors

Children pluck the flowers there, and nearby is a stream.
Its waters with little polliwogs now teem!
Kids are splashing after them. How glad they seem!

Yes, school has ended and their summer I deem
will be a happy one filled with frolic and ice cream!
