For they will try it on
And then be gone

To scheme and to plan
To make them grand
But just telling the truth
And they will retreat saying 'struth!

My mind was trying
To make fantasies
Of my memories.
But struth,
For me
I would rather live
In reality
Than seek a land
Of fading things.
My mind's eye
Now sees the world
With a welcoming
Hoping this reality
Surpasses dreaming.
Remember this, I plead.
One can get lost
In a place
They never wish
To leave....

Do you ever wonder what is behind their eyes
You know those things they will try to disguise
Are they as tough as they try to be
Forsaking tenderness as not meant for me

But when it matters to know the truth
Is all they say Oh Hell and Struth 
For it will be something to see
A tough guy crying as it was meant to be.

Take it back
I heard him say
That’s not a fact
Now go away

But he couldn’t hide the truth
From all in town
The word was out - struth 
It had got around

So in the end
The black eye given
He did not defend
As he felt he was driven

For once it’s known 
In all that’s said
It could not be unknown
Even if he wished it in his dread.
