I Saw the Moon
At night silver moon
in the puddle of the street
straightening her hair...

Sneaky Humidity
“All dressed to kill; please don’t let it rain!”
Hours spent with flat iron
Straightening out the curls
Here comes sneaky humidity to undo this “do”

Straightening The Curls
He is a lonesome young lad, not happy,
with curly hair he thinks he looks scrappy.
Dunks his head in pool with spin,
cold water his nose sucks in.
Tangled hair straightens, but he feels crappy.

Envy
Bus ride
Little boy plays with his thumb
Bending
Straightening
Giggles and giggles
In pure joy
Sitting beside
I look at my hands
They look ugly and tired
Evil too
All sweetness taken away
Nothing left to play with tenderly
Before it ends
The journey...

I do not know?
Life
LIFE
Life is just a journey
Yet it differs from the others;
Once begun
You can’t turn back
To start anew.
You only need straightening out
The things you have messed up.
So we should be careful
With it
For we’ll never have
A new beginning
Until we reach the end....

Banking Hall
The queue has moved
Am at the counter now,
I hand over my stash of cash.
“good morning” she says,
I had lost the greeting culture.
Such warmth.
Sifting through the notes
With her silken smooth fingers,
Sorting, straightening bent ears,
Stashing in safe drawer,
I wish she would
Sort out my heart
And keep it safe in a closet.
Only she would access!

The Conventions of Normality
Normal.
Just a word,
Six letters,
Yet so powerful.
Normal.
Suffocating the unique.
Destroying the unusual.
Submitting to society.
Normal.
Following friends.
Feeling fearful.
Frightening the foxes.
Normal.
Taking away abnormal.
Straightening society.
Creating the same.
Normal.
One word,
With so much depth.
One word to create a uniform world.
Normality is overrated....

Dramatic Monologue
A Second Stream
Our earthly love
completed its course.
What started from
a sudden spring
rushed
eroding land
and loose rock
straightening the way
with force.
It could have gone much smoother
had I known upstream
what I know
down:
Gravity
takes care of everything,
though the damage
is part of the flow.
I thought all would end
in a trickle,
but you left me here
wading.

New York Jolly-Boat Time
When the urge takes you
Suddenly
to move forward in you
Touch of Waves
Under your feet
Wind's flavor
On your nonchalant neck
Straightening of the spine
Shivering
To the four winds
Trembling sensations
of a torrid sunset
Sweet music of the heart
that allows the lovers
to find themselves for a moment
in the shimmering flames
of their newborn present

Changing Scenes
Scenes of life keep on changing,
Tend to keep us wondering,
Darts of flesh make us faltering,
Keep in touch with God praying,
Propelled by spirit to go on praising;
Tarry in the Lord thanking,
Lest we fall prey to temptation wavering,
Moving forward trusting,
Lord is ahead guiding,
Being our mentor guarding,
With his grace redeeming,
Making our ways straightening,
Helping us to go on marching,
Without any shrinking....

Escape Goats
Escape Goats
Just good old' kids,
Never meaning any harm,
Been in trouble since they were born.
Straightening' the corners,
Flattening' the curbs and crushing pebbles.
Someday the hills might get them, but the law never will.
Making their way,
The only way they can,
Which is a little more than the law allows.
Just good old kids,
Couldn't change if they wanted to,
Fighting' the system like a modern Day Bonney and Clyde...

Spring Gardening
Raking out the garden,
Straightening the stones,
Thinning the perennials,
Removing old dog bones.
Cutting off dead branches,
Clearing out the hedge,
Burning all the rubbish,
Straighten gardens edge.
The air is finally warmer.
Spring flowers raise their heads.
The Tulips and the Hyacinths first,
To look up from their beds.
Next the Daffodils break ground,
Soon to raise their sunny faces,
And I rush to prepare the ground,
Make ready all their places....

The Dollhouse
The dollhouse was a gift from us
For Chanukah, one year.
Our grandkids played a lot with it
And that’s why it’s still here.
On Fridays, when we babysit
(Though mostly they’re in school)
I do a bit of straightening,
But just in minuscule.
For I like when the dollhouse
Has its furniture all neat
And every little figure’s
In a bed, a crib or seat.
I rarely find it that way
And the dolls might be misplaced
But I make it look the way
My childhood self would have embraced....

Drastic Dances Drooling
spartian spirit spurring
sumptuous soles straying
salient strength scrunching
saucy strife stalking
spooky south squashing
sane stats straining
desirous dare dancing
damped desires dangling
drastic dances drooling
smothered sight smoothening
stunning spurs straightening
salty soaring sparring
oodles oomph oozing
dare awed spirit.

~Note~ A dare saw a spirit floating in the air, ascending... It goes there at intervals... Wishing its parents could do it....
