Premium Member Strawberry Festival Days

crowds came from afar
to laud the time of their lives
from sunshine to dark

laughter and sparklers
chaotic colors clashing
children playing pomp

beauty explosions
inky black night delighting
sweets and treats for all

Fireworks

In the darkness, extravaganza,
Flaming, blazing drama,
Sky rockets and sparklers,
So spectacular,
Fireworks in my brain,
Flaming illumination,
Catherine wheels,
Are you for real?
The pyrotechnics
Was it all a squib?
Crescendo..
To diminuendo...

I float down from clouds above,
Another little death of love.....

Premium Member Dazzling In Sweet Madness

The parade of magnetic sparklers blaze the café Soon, a flushed crowd tingles on popped wine dazzling in sweet madness, more hours to sashay; while I, I lose myself in a mist of a song’s last line “City of Lights” bathes in drops of fire glowers where new romance thrills starry-eyed lovers

Bonfire Night

Bonfire night
Sparklers dancing in the air
Children running without a care
Bang, boom, sizzling
Fireworks exploding the night sky glowing
toffee apples, peas, and pies
At night justice began overpowering
A man burned at the steak after threatening
From then on a celebration began
Dancing, fireworks, and much more in the air

Seldom

Seldom

Seldom,
So seldom does this word prevail;
How shall it seek you too?
Seldom is a spark renewed,
Ephemeral and divine it appears;
Its light seems certain to no purpose;
Like sparklers in the brain,
They thrive in numbers but exist
No longer than thought sublime;
Seldom do they stay,
They only drift and shine towards decay.

in a chaotic flurry fragile snowflakes fall... feathers tumbling in the wind frozen alabaster shards morph into glistening gems... crystalline sparklers winter's down-duvet as soft as a snowy kiss... a fluffy blanket of white (Haiku) 12/10/2022 Triple New Charlieku Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Charles Messina

Premium Member Penny For the Guy

Catherine wheels and sparklers
 lighting up the night
 Hot chestnuts on the fire
 As bonfires burn bright

 A penny for the guy
who tried to kill the king
and blow the House of Lords sky high
like a rocket in the wind

 Cracker jacks exploding
 as they celebrate this bloke
 whose effigy is burning
 Going up in smoke

Penny For the Guy

Gloomy was this November night

Under grey skies no stars in sight

You and hot chestnuts such delight,

Filled with joy, bonfire set alight

Ashes, sparks in smoke filled air

Whiz go cracker jacks, rockets flare

Kids with sparklers, Catherine wheels

Excitement mounts, fun of the fair

Spectacular display, fireworks reveals.

Fireworks

The cold night is awoken and warmed
A family of excitement ready to release their arsenal
Stored under the stairs until the big night
Let the show begin:
Traffic lights – whoosh colour changing
Rockets – whoosh bang screeching
Jack in the box – whoosh bang-jumping
Sparklers – whoosh fizzle-sparkling
Catherine Wheel – whoosh dizzy-spinning
The big one at the end

Premium Member Bonfire Night

Sky lightening up
flares and flashes
arching high above

Pretty sparklers in
kids gloved hands
waving circling

Loud bangs from rockets
as they explode showering
multi bands of colour

Catherine wheels
spinning round
a visual delight

Guy on top of bonfire
soon is well ablaze
warming cold hands

Display now done
kids head for bed
to dream of it again

Premium Member Sparklers

A sparkler in the night
A silver stick of stardust
Sparkling with flashing light
With a dash of delight.

A silver stick of stardust
Coloured flowers Ignite
With a dash of delight.
Rotating bursts of light

Coloured flowers Ignite
Sparkling with flashing light
Rotating bursts of light
A sparkler in the night.

Premium Member Citrus Delight

Absentmindedly, I placed
the slice of orange
in my mouth.

As my teeth penetrated
the thin outer skin
the flavor burst on my senses
like fourth of July sparklers.

I closed my eyes
to savor the moment.

Slowly, I chewed
as the sweet, tangy
juice filled my mouth
and ran down my chin.

Greedily, I ate
but could not recapture
the utter delight
of that very first bite.

Sparkling Deepawali

Striding through the sparkles in satin sand.
And luminous sparkles twinkling all around.
Casting spell with the sparkles in her eyes
And sparkling sparklers in her hands.
May gaiety deities step in frolicking with sparkling smile.
With sparkling lotus sillage trailing like an elated child.
And thumping foot ferreting behind the dodging ambrosial of sparkling motichoor.
May the sparkling smile sparkle for life.

Firework Night

Flames shoot upwards reaching high
Cheeks reflect the bonfire's glow
Vibrant stars light up the sky
Whooshing, whistling firework show.

Cheeks reflect the bonfire's glow
Sparklers sizzle as they trace
Whooshing, whistling firework show
Roaring rockets start to race.

Sparklers sizzle as they trace
Vibrant stars light up the sky
Roaring rockets start to race
Flames shoot upwards reaching high.

The Waning of the Wild

I can feel the alone
Pressing on me
In this beautiful wild
I wait for it to speak
But beneath the rushing water
And painted canyons.
The once strung bow is now silent.
Polished pebbles have lost their shine.
The Mountain’s thrum has grown cold.
A breath of wind trembles.
The fireflys flicker
Light weaving in and out
Like sparklers on the Fourth of July.
The jagged lines of sudden echos
In the shadowed canyons walls are reminiscent of
A slowing heartbeat.
Mine?
Or the Wild?
