From the Sages of old
came an ancient ruse.
They named it a Yote.
But it's not a fluke.
Cause they're in the know.
Won't, refute the scrolls.
Yotes, wear sneaker boots.
And Yodel in Tune.
Walk down the halls with flair

Needed some sneakers
So went to a store
But nobody shops
In a store anymore.
Salesfolk approached me;
No customers shopped.
Prices were discounted,
Then again chopped.
Left with a purchase –
A new sneaker pair,
But wonder how long
That same store will be there.
BREVITY – the soul of wit
One was red, one was blue
the pair - a sneaker and a shoe
so he laughed as he retold
the story given him by mother
that his brother wore the other.

STRONG
what, I’m the one who calls,
who comforts,
but now
i find myself on the receiving end
“call if you need to cry…
i’m here for you”
like whispers in the hallowed hall
of a hospital.
the sneaker merely dropped
and it doesn’t look like rubber and laces.
planning food runs and patient stopovers
but this isn’t real
it can’t be
my mother is strong…

They've been sitting, primed and ready -
Just a'rarin,' as they say -
But they weren't called to action
'Til I summoned them today.
For the ones they are replacing
Have provided great support,
Though as age has done its number
Lately they have come up short.
So I made the switch, just hoping
My resolve would not get weaker
As I slowly tied the laces
On each brand-new walking sneaker!
Destroy the war shop,
nationalist- imperialism gist!
Cultivate the flower garden
Peace and love surely comes
Be a lion not to show the cruel power
but to be a true knowledge of love, peace learner
Scriptures!
Come out from the all sneaker whispering
No power can bring redemption
But the self inside- the virgin knowledge!

The bones are loud and heavy
they don't like exercise anymore.
The treadmill chugs along
while vertigo topples unready toes.
Nothing can push these bones along,
time has filled them with concrete,
the rubble of marathons once run.
A young woman sprinting effortlessly
beside me smirks my way
as I stumble through a flat-footed mile.
Maybe she cannot see her future yet
while mine is clearly
painted on a wall I will soon hit.
Have a hole in my sock
Sneaker is torn
A bump like Hernia
Next to my groin.
Corsage must pick
My son’s prom tonight
Stop by MacDonald’s
Grab me a bite.
Must watch out for myself
Front tooth is loose
If I chew too hard
It’ll be of no use.
Good thing still have hair
Although grows quite thin
If it starts to fall
Damn curly sin.
Done the days chores
Rest and sit down
Getting old for this circus
Should be a retired clown.
Little boys in caps
Dirt on their seat,
Puppies in their laps
Toy cars at their feet
Dirt on their seat
Baseball at their side,
