hillside
cold, white
snowing, running, sledding
ice, plastic, bone, blood,
thawing, melting, flowing
warm, red,
hospital
its like family day
family go to play
after the snow
watch them go
slip sled and
fall snow balls
as the wind blow
its
FAMILY AND THE SNOW
Snow is piled high, slippery
Ready for fun, get the sled
The children line up to go
On down the slick slope
Russell Sivey
Oh my, why try.
one day
we play
in snow
face glow
hit head
on sled
too fast
we crashed
too old
be bold

once an old cabbie named fred
had a nose that glowed bright red
when a call from a bar
put an elf in his car
and now he leads santas sled.
A sleepy little girl once said
she’d like to stay at home in bed
they said she’d miss the fun
with sledding just begun
so she jumped up quickly instead
The red sled treads snow
But when it warms, grass you'll mow
Soon the black birds crow
Run's God's Fun,
Across Field's, .... Time!
Championed Sled On, ... Snowflakes, Might!
Cheer's Our Voices Start To End;
Winter's Beat Of Fun, .... Begins!
There was a young sleigh bell named Tingle
She loved to ring and to jingle
She shined herself bright
'Cause on Christmas Eve night
She'll be on the sled of Kris Kringle.
IMPROVISED CHRISTMAS
yuletide in trouble
at a thousand feet – burn out
hear old saint nick shout
“round up some huskies
for the trip get them well fed
christmas by dog sled!”
School's closed
No reason to rush
Over the hill with my sled again
Waddle home in 10 layers
Day of treats and falling snow
All home, all safe tonight
Yearning for another…

Wore Christmas Cap While Gifts Rap
When all the gifts Santa had to wrap,
He would always do it wearing a cap,
With clothes,
Will suppose,
And for him to fly sled needed a map.
Jim Horn
Santa drank too much sherry and fell off his sled
There’ll be no gifts delivered, he’s staying in bed!

A mighty good sled, I rode down the hill;
A cup of hot chocolate and I was out to make snow angels, everywhere.
I built my snowmen bigger than me, climbing a snow-step, behind them.
Winter slopes abound,
Flakes of white, are all around
More are coming down
Let's find a hill,
We'll sled down it,for a thrill
Trek back to the top
This is a Haiku/ Senryu combo...Want to go sledding !
RUDOLPH GOT DRUNK
Rudolph, the red nose reindeer
Got drunk drinking Santa's beer
He wished he was dead
He can't pull a sled
Christmas will be late this year

Rudolph told Santa he was going on strike
He wanted a brand new motorbike
No way was he pulling Santa’s sled
Christmas is cancelled – Rudolph’s staying in bed!

Not for Contest
come with me feeling free on my red sled
maybe we can revisit life and free ourselves from this dead bed
perhaps we could rekindle a flame long since faded
by letting the magic of the snow free us from feeling selflessly gated
Mottled black and white rooster stood proud on his sled
Can he do handstands and back flips? Asked his cousin Ned.
He could but he won’t, his sister, a rule stickler said.
The rooster listened to all of these expectations with dread.

Sledding with her cousins every year
Reminding her that Christmas is near
She races up and down hills with a sled
Dreams of Christmas cookies in her head
Sweet dreams that night in her toasty bed
Christmas memories with her cousin Ned
Sally wore a silky dress
Landed in a puddle of mud and grass
she sled down the slide
Those the stains she tried to hide
Sally's silky dress was a dirty mess

When Rudolph ate sprouts for his tea
he pulled the sled flatulently
Deer farts make Santa heave
and it was Christmas Eve -
poor Santa was very angry!

Reverie
smooth
sometimes I wonder
is this a living world?
no movement
no horizon
January
out on the bay
dog team hunkered down
like fur drifts
they sleep warm
as I,
laying back on the sled,
contemplate
the glare of
nothingness.
Chased down, Santa’s sled leaves skid marks on the ledge of North Pole.
Sacks in hand, green elves turn Christmas red - punishment shoveling coal.
