Premium Member Fox

quick sight… caught
a creamy, frothy tail
skulking behind bins
caramel
this creeping tod
wry trickery, claw
prowl and sly, brazen
he's getting too brave
soon…
a knock on the door

Coyote

Night shift, unseen, predatory
creatures skulking in darkness
coats glistening in cold moonlight,
takers amid the searchers
awakening the stench of fear
within the city limits.

Destiny Stares Out From Eternity

Destiny is skulking along following me
As it stares out from eternity
When I glance over my shoulder
It becomes bolder and bolder

What does it have in store
Is my future laid out to explore
As I feel it’s eyes piercing me
And I want to run from it and be free.

Secrets

Secrets that you want to forever keep
Skulking around in the depths so deep
What subjects are out of your depth
And are uncomfortable in their breadth

Change the subject then straight away
Keep to the things that promise you'll stay
And when you think it is safe to do so
Mull over then so your smile will not go.

SILHOUETTE OF NIGHT

Skulking in the fleeting light
as if mocking shapelessness
blended colors, mottled grey,
coyly dance on dew wet streets.
Silently dread’s shivers raise,
dark against a faded day,
fears that live within the soul.

'round the Bend

When your life is going smoothly,
It’s so simple to pretend
That no negatives are waiting
To assault you ‘round the bend.

Don’t succumb and get complacent,
Thinking joy will never end,
For its opposite is lurking
And it’s right around the bend.

It’s much better if you’re ready,
Which is why I recommend
Never flaunting jubilation;
Sorrow’s skulking ‘round the bend.

Silent Torture

Silence breaches beyond
Abroad where tears dissolve

Home in soft splashing showers
This stillness plagues

Within visions lines
A skulking entity

Ageless and constant
Living and dead

Unwinding gallantly
Coursing within and beyond

From everywhere and nowhere
Many thoughts of fear

In painful illuminae
Unceasingly foreboding

An unending wait
Yet still it lingers

A cruel torturer
Flawlessly determined

The Dog, the Bear, and the Maggot

The Dog is structured,
Always working to preserve,
Familial ties.
Diligent service,
Loyal to love and country,
Strong yet still servile.

The Bear is nurtured,
A hunter in fair weather,
Useless in winter.
Promises plenty,
But bleeds his own forest dry,
Water, trees and all.

The Maggot is cankered,
A hollow soul and stomach,
Skulking forest floors.
Can only scavenge,
ON the corpses of others,
And their fellow man.

Premium Member An Extremely Lucky Fellow

The ground is white with powdery snow Thankfully, I have no place I need to go, The arctic north wind has ceased to blow, I see one bird outside, a large black crow He flexes his wings occasionally for show, In yonder meadow stands a single doe Despite the frigid cold, she’s wary of a foe, The fox she saw skulking in a near hollow All is peaceful, the atmosphere is mellow, And I feel like an extremely lucky fellow.

Anxiety

A creature dwells behind me
Always lurking, skulking
Robed in shadows, waiting, hovering.
At times a ferocity of claws, shrieks -
Icy vice like grips plunging through me!
Others; a gnawing poisenous whisper...
...seeping slowing...
Through me. Again. Again.
Armour of rational thought and pragmatism/
Disintegrates upon his command.
Positivity swords rebound and shatter!
And so once more I slip, unnoticed,
Back - back - back
To his chosen lair.

Thunder

Thunder
    Terrified dogs
Howl, yelp and whine
     Cowering under tables and chairs
Skulking in the far corners
     Crouching down
Shaking with fear
     Trying to escape
From the deafening peals of thunder,
     And we humans
Proud, arrogant creatures
Strutting across the face of the earth
Feel more than a little humbled,
     When the heavens roar.

Quiet, Be Still

Violent winds stormed and the boat seemed skulking toward wreckage.
Still a small voice simply whispered,
Out tuned from the wailing, the waiting, the howling,
“Everything is okay. Child, everything’s gonna be alright.”
It’s all okay.
The wrestle, the condition, even the storm’s suspense and the fear.
Quiet, be still.
All it takes three words.
And the rain holes of the sky will just shut,
the windstorms will fade, and the darkness begone.
Quiet, be still.
