Coyote

Coyote

Night shift, unseen, predatory
creatures skulking in darkness
coats glistening in cold moonlight,
takers amid the searchers
awakening the stench of fear
within the city limits.

Debbie, I saw one three blocks from my house at a Burger King. Eating there could slow their accelerated growth.

Quite enough to chill the faint of heart. I like that cruel, keen edge to it.

I live in the prairies of Sask and the coyotes howl down the road and have taken many cats... it is a beautiful sound to hear despite their reputation... your poem says it all

Valerie, nice to hear from you. Yeah, the poor coyote takes a bad rap just for being themselves.

Barbara, they tend to surprise us here on the streets of Boston. and their "barber shop quartet" yipping can be un-nerving at dusk. Thanks for stopping by.
