Olympic Gala At the Air Canada Centre
Canada's Olympic team,
pro weightlifters
and skiers,
sat down to a celebration gala,
grand festivities at the
ACC,
a feast of Cheerios and
a glass of water,
passed
with
handshakes,
candles and cupcakes,
everyone wishing
to be back to that moment,
when they beat the odds....

Premium Member Skiing Delight
Settled toward skiing championship gain
Keeps him prevailing over practice pain
Insistent to ski well during snowy week
Inspiring fellow skiers who are weak
Nourished as sporty skier midst faith* nurture
Goal is gold in Paralympics’ venture.

The Skier
The skier glides
A judge decides
A lower score
His body is sore

The athlete falls
But doesn't bawl
The skater spins
A card gamer wins

The skiers costly error
Disappointment is the wearer
Moving on to the next event
Down the slopes The skier went
The triumph of winning
The athlete's mind is spinning
The joy achieved
The goal believed...

Flow Redone
There sat in my chair, a sighting
when the earth quivered no delighting.
Out the window I watched it flow;
down the grade, heaps, icy snow.
The mask of skiers not revealed;
rescue workers rushed in to unseal.
They scattered about with their tools in hand,
dug for life that had a plan.
In all that commotion I did see'
deep the emotion when skiers were freed....

Winter Scene
Mountains of prestige
underneath them snowy trees,
narrow creek free-flowing icy water.
Skiers perfect netting with a chilling thermosetting,
peeping from a group of giant boulders.
Freezing, wheezing, sneezing,
placed it in safe keeping-
scene that would be best in the midsummer.
Taking one last peek for a painting I am weak
though second glance paralyse then shudder....

Mile High
Mile High

I awake to the sound of a dynamite blast, then another!
Clearing the path for ardent outward bound skiers
Restless limbs
Pop out of bed with eager anticipation
Outside, fresh un-groomed powder
Dawn’s early lights dance playfully on the snow
Sharp edges, freshly waxed skis, warm gloves
Ear to ear grin
Earthly Heaven Awaits

Olympic Games
The understanding race
Much competition to face
The disappointing loss
Frustrations tou must toss

The skaters dance
The underdogs chance
The pressure of perfection
The judge's selection

The winner's adulation
Stands for a nation
The cheering crowd
Grows ever loud

A skiers mistake
Acceptance one has to make
The pair skates
The hand shakes
How beautiful they glide
How nervous inside...

Summer Sea
Summer sea
Visual #1

Summer sun rises to its peak,
pampers skiers dive into the sea,
tides arc high for escape in streaks,
Summer sun rises to its peak,
giggly waves set forth a free freak,
adventure to impassioned plea,
Summer sun rises to its peak,
pampers skiers dive into the sea!

By Any Other Name
The river’s not really a river
‘Cause water can flow either way.
Right now it is tumbling downtown.
Tomorrow? I simply can’t say.

The jet skiers seem not to mind much;
The same for each tugboat or ferry.
I wonder if they’re all aware that
They’re riding a brisk estuary.

When mapmakers draw up their pictures,
Simplicity’s what they deliver.
It’s hard to say East Estuary,
So that’s why it’s called the East River....

Winter Wonderland
Walk across the frozen fields
Inhale the frosty air
Nap before a blazing fire
The tall tales that we share
Etching angels in the snow
Reward the inner child

Wage a friendly snowball fight
Obsess, let joy run wild
Nutmeg eggnog with cinnamon
Deep snowbanks edge the lane
Everything is fresh and new
Replacing autumns wane
Lakes attract the skaters
And to hills the skiers go, I'm
Never more alive then when I'm
Dancing in the snow...

Winter Diamonds
Winter diamonda, snow that sparkles,
When the sunlight shines.

A walk to the park on a winter's day,
Where the sun shines and guides.

Skiers that caress the slopes of the mountain,
Snow that sparkles like diamonds.

Skaters where you could hear the skater making contact,
With the diamond like ice, sparkling like a jewel.

Friends sharing the beautiful weather,
A rhapsody and delight to be with.
