Fathers
Listen to the whispering meadows
ancient secrets roll down the hills
scoop up forgotten voices
like sparkling precious gems
emerald eyes shine dreams
their sacrifice
our reward
feel their
love

Deep Sea of Tears
Do you remember the feeling of crying?
the tears slowly streaming down
it's like a warm presence
leaving your body
I can't say I feel comfort in crying
because when I cry
there's no one to wipe the tears away
I take my hands out of my back pockets
holding onto what's left of my pants
and I scoop up my tears in hopes
of keeping my dignity
or maybe my sanity...

Confession
Confession
Author: Runping Chen
From the peak of soul
I carry a handful of clean soil;
From the rapids of life
I scoop up a ladle of clear water,
And mix them up together.
I searched and fetched the bricks of affection
To build up a kitchen range.
I burn my life as igniting the firewood
To heat the pot of faith
So as to stew leisurely
Gurgles of the poetic thinking,
In silence....

Frostbite
The snow crunches under my toes.
I feel like Frosty, wrapped up and poofy yet bitterly cold.
Cracking ice, frozen breath, my nose turns a painful pink.
I scoop up snow without gloves,
To examine each individuality...
My life-long curiousity with Wilson A. Bently's science.
My fingers tighten and prickle with cold,
so I follow animal tracks home.
I, bundled and cheerful,
Amble home from the frost to the hearth....

Walking the Dog
From my window I see the dog walkers as they parade past
Leash in their left hand, poop bag held tightly in their right
All sizes, shapes and breeds, both owners and their dogs
Charges safely tethered on their leash, straining to be free
Anxious to check their pee-mail or send a message on its way
I see the walker poised, ready to scoop up each catch of the day
Quickly wrap it tightly and tuck the warm and squishy deposit
Firmly into their pocket before hurrying on their way...

Skiff In a Low Place
The hull lolls,
anchored to a fouling current.
Juggernauts of heat sleep under a leaden sky,
bugs lurch and slow skirt.
I nod over my spine, afloat on a humming haze.
An osprey jumps out of a high ambit,
swooping fast.
I imagine a wind in the wake of its wings.
The bird dives, cleaves the light, arrow bright
parting the weight of these doldrums.
The wallowing skiff seems to shrug off the heavy air
as talons scoop up a wriggling fish
together with my up-lifted mind....

Puddle
My only friend
Is the one in my head
'cause the one that I had
was left behind in the sand
The sand of the hourglass
waning away
never stopping
never speeding
only burying your secrets
grain by grain
Someone to hold
something to have
All pain
no gain
I reached out to touch you
and you melted
as my fingers grazed
your perfect face
I try to scoop up the puddle
mould you back into shape
But I just kept slipping
in the mess
that I used to live for...

Hearts Carved On a Tree
The sun is out
The sky is blue
Hearts carved on a tree
Spell Me and You
We stroll by the water
Forget our cares
Summer's here now
To enjoy the fresh air
Smell the red peonies
Gorgeous pods on a stem
Pick a few, don't deny
The table its diadem
Scoop up some stones
Choose one smooth and flat
Skip it across the lake
and marvel at that...
As the sun works its way
Into the last gentle wave
The day's etched in memories
~ For Eternity to save...
