Button Gone Astray
I read a poem the other day
About a button gone astray
Another poet said her thing
Was always losing one earring
Before I put my pen away
I had to join into the fray
I’ve never worn an earring
I never felt the need
And have I sewn on buttons
Hundreds – yes indeed
So when I get an extra
It goes straight into a jar
But when I need that button
It takes too long by far
