Home Sweet Home

Mice in the wall
  rats in the hall
Our first apartment
  sure had it all

A cockroach or two
  for dinner would do
We'd laugh when they floated
  face up in the stew

Right outside the window
  were the railroad tracks
As the trains would roar by
  my dad's dentures would clack

Our creaky old three-flat
  the city finally tore down
Rats, rice and roaches relocated
  to a more modern playground

Remnants of Life

And there you remained,
Permanent as the figure of your soul,
Attached to the veins of my heart,
You dwell upon my vision,
 There you are,
Smiling restlessly, you were enslaved.
Secretly unchained,
You flew freely,
But you still remained,
Attached.
Has Love found a partner?
Or has God relocated our hearts,
Replaying me and you
 As Adam and Eve?
Cause’ baby, it hasn’t changed,
Our love, it’s well-made,
And Sturdy
We shall
Remain.

Butterfly

A butterfly sat on the roof of my life
I felt an instant hope to love again
It descended from my roof
Relocated at the center of my heart

The butterfly settled right inside my heart
It sealed all the holes in my heart
I know this intervention will last forever
My life has become brand new

Oh! Lovely is its nature
Trademark of love it possesses
I am convinced a butterfly
Touched my life
Now I am on it wings
To truly fall in love again

relocated daisy

They say a single white
blossomed.
Petals flung wide
in the east wind’s howl—

                              She must be lonely.

Alone? Yes, but not adrift.

                              Nonsense.
                              No flower thrives without tending.

Perhaps you should look
closer:
her roots drink
from the deep earth—

No use in tending,
when the soil remembers
better than memory.
