Refocus

Far on out to sea
      where you empty into me
horizon imperceptively
balances

Pain sails far
      on rip tide angry
out of reason

Hope floats waiting
      on swell and valley
glimmering ahead

Not behind.

Soil

SOIL
I am planting my soul onto the miraculous soil
To reap the fruits of golden oil
There are many challenges that we have to foil
Nothing left for you to refocus to boil

The Reason For Easter

How many of us today have thought of the true meaning of Easter
It is not the Easter bunny, eggs or candy
It was Jesus giving his life so we humans can have eternal life
Maybe we need to refocus on what our mortal lives are really about.

Day Dream

I stay still and quiet as
Visions dance through my head.

My pencil streaks across the paper,
While I sit at the desk I call a bed.

But as I come to a finish,
the page seems to fade.

And I blink and blink repeatedly
As I refocus on the day.

Attitude Is Yours Alone

My dog died today
Making me angry and sad
Hot tears streamed down me.

I could cry for weeks
Soaked in indignant anger
Wasting my own life

Attitude is key.
The clear choice is up to me.
I decide on joy.

I will refocus
Give myself a new puppy
The choice is all mine.

She Wolf Is Banished

Kind thoughts were hard to come by
After the she-wolves began comparing stories
Feeding off each other, exaggerating her infractions
By the time Grandmother Wolf entered the den
It was too late to refocus the she-wolves
They were stirred and frenzied
Ready to banish her from the pack

Fades

As I stare at the screen
without a thought in my head
trying to figure out
what my thoughts are
as they blur to and fro
a solid picture one second
and the next it fades to a bunch of swirls
waiting for it to refocus
for it to become clear
My words a combination of all that I see
until I am confused by them

The Release

Rise, from the state of self-doubt.
Renew, your attention on the now.
Refocus, your intention on growth.
Relax your mind, while your heart wanders.
Recreate, the unexpected.
Rebuild, self-confidence.
Rekindle, the fire within.
Regain, inner peace.
Resist, the need for criticism.
Release, that which you can not change.

Silence

Sometimes I wait
Wait for something external
Till I realize
That’s not what I want

So I refocus
I listen to the silence
To wonderful loving silence
Full in itself

And I realize the wait
Was for its appreciation
Calling attention to itself
Calling out for praise
And utter admiration

Stop Blaming But Refocus

Stop blaming but refocus
Don't blame
What is done is done
We can't change them
By blames
But we can catch them
Back and turn them positive
By our actions towards change

Stop blaming but refocus
Cast your blames away
We can't keep pointing
Forever
We can't keep complaining
Till eternity
solution is the key
And it's never found on
grievances

Pick Up the Pieces

Listen to poem:
It might have all been illusion
Your dreams now lay shattered
Your whole life seems in shambles
Don’t despair

Hold your head high
Reset your sights on the big picture
Reevaluate your ambitions
Pick up and juggle the pieces

Rebuild the puzzle
Take time to refocus
Time to recalibrate
And not lose balance

To the Graduate

High School was not my favorite place
Though I had fun, I often felt out of place

Most of what I learned I would never use
Some of what I learned I put to good use

If your strong point is a love of learning
Work hard and keep that focus burning

Since school is never out forever
It's time to refocus your endeavor

Clearly on the more important things
Of the truth and all the joy it brings.

Morning On the Deck

Blue skies filled with clouds of white
Warm sun shining bright.
Heat radiates off the deck
A warm breeze brushes the hair across my neck.
Birds chirp and sing in the trees
Hidden from view by the green leaves.
The water in the pond reflects hues of green and blue
I breathe deep and take in the glorious view.
Refreshed and renewed, nature has a way
Of helping refocus the plans of the day.

Split Wide Open

She watches as the familiar female face falls from his wallet
An infidelity exposed
The truth of betrayal unfolds

In fevered disbelief she sat motionless through the night
Slowly her eyes refocus... he still lay upon their bed

Grabbing the scrubs she'd just bought for work
She kisses his forehead, sets the broken, bloodied knife in the sink
And locks the door behind her

My First Love

So hard to keep moving sometimes,
Trying to keep my life in line with you Lord.
So many things trying to take me away from
You my first one, my steady one whom loves
Everything that is me.
Like a tree that is planted next to your life
giving waters, I will refocus and be content in Thee.
Any extra blessings are meant for me to pour
Out and bless others with.
Yet my reward is already with me, and that
Reward is You!

Rainstorm

Drowning in the Maelstrom
Vision blurred grey
Head Bowed
Mouth set unmoved

Two skins wet
Feet aflame
Back broken
Body numb

On the green earth
Between steel topped stone
And a God’s fury
I sit
They sit
We sit

Breath rasps with the steam
Frozen and frying
Dead hands and dying feet
Rest

The sea taps at numb shoulders
Water on stone
Eyes refocus
Still grey

The ocean drips over the brim
A waterfall for weary eyes
The call comes
They Stand
I stand
We stand

Hacking back into the torrent

Flying time

Looking at the moonlit sky
I wonder how time flies
I wonder, why oh, why?
Or maybe your sight has fallen to the floor
Better refocus or you might trip more
But that's not my concern
You've always been your own worst enemy
Could never really see
The you I saw so very clearly
A lost boy always searching
Now a "man" always learning
I wish you nothing but the best
Our time has past, it was just a test
Now you must be you, better than the rest
The you I always knew you could be
