Attitude Is Yours Alone

My dog died today Making me angry and sad Hot tears streamed down me. I could cry for weeks Soaked in indignant anger Wasting my own life Attitude is key. The clear choice is up to me. I decide on joy. I will refocus Give myself a new puppy The choice is all mine.

Thank you Mark. We have had our "new" dog for almost 7 years, so this happened 7 years ago, but it was on 8-8-2011 and I have not forgotten.

I am delighted that you understood the strength of my own-self knowledge.

Dear Caren, I have lost 14 cats. Sometimes I cried, or was angry as you said. Each cat or dog is irreplaceable. I support you fully in getting a dog who needs a home. I also support you in experiencing any emotion that may come up, grief comes in stages. My current cat was adopted two years ago and I still longed for the lost cat! Deciding to move forward is always the best. Panagiota

I said to myself, "how long do you want to sob all day - one day? Three days? A month? Six months?" Lucky my dog died on a Thursday afternoon. I looked online for a new dog on Friday. We had Sophie, our current dog on Saturday at noon. I knew Lucky was okay with it. She was a giving, loving dog, who would not like looking down from heaven to see me all red and sobbing all day.

Here, I do both and can sum it up best by inviting you to page 4 of my poems, "An Outlook" - you'll see! I'm enjoying discovering you. I like starting at the beginning because precious poem gems slip thru poetry cracks on Soup as soon as a new poem is posted. Wouldn't want to miss your Haiku gems. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

You are in a large group of people who also feel their initial postings fell flat before they became known, such as known is on Soup. Even after one is 'known' comments are hard to figure out in terms of who, what, why and how come. I can get boo-koo reads and no comments, be faved by people who have never commented (CANNOT figure that one out.) Conclusion - it's a game of read to be read and commented on, but in my case, I refuse to play unless I sincerely like a poem. Authenticity is the motto of my life and I'll not betray it to snag comments. Wish I had 19!

I am so glad you did, I think some of my best stuff got posted right away; now I'm feeling things might be downhill a bit due to enthusiastic posting, so I can keep my audience of 19.

Thank you, Line. This is what I teach my students every day; our life is in so many ways up to us. I am glad that you understand.
