Cat
Colorful coat leaving
Cursed once, but poignantly
Cherished fur tornadoes
Copiously on my
Couch seat while you snuggle
Closely as your thin frame
Captures love for what’s next

The Other Woman
aches
heartbreaking
i have been misunderstood
mistakes
breathtaking
I never said I was good
pancakes
lovemaking
I will never attain sainthood
moments
so brief
Filled with loneliness
ailments
of grief
Plagued by emptiness
His existence is my bane
A fate I hate
poignantly
He leaves again
I wait
patiently....

For David Who Lived Next Door
The old man's khaki shorts
Still hangs on a string fastened
to the back of his rocking chair
On the veranda

As the wind blows
The chair rocks noiselessly
I remember poignantly
As the hour drew near

He wore his khaki shorts
Sat on the rocking chair
Gazed upwards
Like one counting the clouds

He mumbled:
Lord, is it it?
Receive my poor soul,
I tried....

During enduring winter rain
the small bird cheeping

his only wish of certain warmth
ducks out of the sheeting rain - each

grain aimed an icy dart poignantly
tipped with a hardening past -

into the chimney duct through
too-small a hole for use again,

tweaking his wish to certain flames,
some sorta luck, and, suddenly drained,

              to sync with the rain...

Premium Member Poetry - For Surprise Me Contest
Paintings of word-pictures we can sometimes see;

Other times, pure pathos is offered poignantly.

Elucidation can be channeled most enchantingly

Through a poet’s pen to you and me!

Raining thoughts, poets plant them carefully,

Yielding the harvest of their soul - their poetry.

Darkened translations emerge from the night.
Fledglings tarnished as they hide from the light.
Parvenue casualties from antiquated sin.
Depraved menage is how it dared begin.

Retribution will one day be poignantly felt.
Severely dispensed, his wrath will be dealt.
No one can hide from their diabolical display
Destruction will find thee and bring your end of day.

Strategist Trump
"I am my own strategist,"
Our President proudly said
Pushing the Panic Button
Poignantly painted RED

"The mother of all bombs
Will fill Putin with dread
Assad will be so grateful
I chose Afghans instead

Let North Korea tremble
Their many left unfed
Will shortly have no worries
Because they'll all be dead

I am my own strategist
I see the way ahead
Our nation will be great again
Just like I always said!"...

Harp and Flute
Harp and flute

Fingers bled of love by the strings of the harp,
Eyes filled with tears, mingled in the drops of blood,
As the flute elated sucked and kissed the slaughtered,
Love and hate, tears and blood, such are the broken hearts.

A song of love and sadness poignantly dejected,
The harp so majestically and queenly on it mimicked,
The flute so princely and so kingly on it emoted,
So eternally, beautifully and so perpetually, such achingly is how it hurts....

DREAMING

When I was walking down the hall I felt a pain that hurt me
poignantly but it was not really there

When I was walking up the stairs I met a man who was not there
and he was not there again to day- oh how I wish he'd fade away!

When I was at the table alone I spoke with a lady who was dressed
in grass and cotton but she was not there and maybe I was not either

There just is not a way to know when we are dreaming is there?
Nevertheless dreams do come true some times...
