His Voice is Buttery
His voice is buttery says a musician critic on TV
I have no idea what buttery means
She sings her butt off
This is also curious
If she turned around, I could see this
He can sing the phone book
Couldn’t we all?
If we wanted to.
If I did, someone would beg me to stop singing
No.
Everyone would beg me to stop singing...

they were gone
I was looking through my phone book
which I have had for many many years
where did they all go
we used to hang on street corners
in classes
at meetings
on dates
I awoke one day and
they were gone
only their names and
phone numbers remained...

Unlisted
No matter you’re not in the phone book
and you pay with cash, not checks;
no matter if you dress in the faded
worn-out rags that were all she left;
no matter if you wrap yourself in cobwebs
and drive a three-wheeled wreck;
no matter if you give up your martinis
and survive on chicken necks,
it matters not. She’ll always have
your number – your carnivorous ex....

Understepping Eight
I looked everywhere for a phone book
I think there's little chance I'll find one
My smart phone says to call 411
I think these books will now be extinct
If you see one have a good look
No reason now to print all those names
I can't believe they have all vanished
To find under stepped message refer to my Understepping one or two
for directions.
Inspired by Becca, I hope you like it. I can't resist a challenge*lol*...

Rooster Who Outsings the Stars
We had heard of this anomaly who out-sang the stars.
The ones in the cosmos? Asked my slow cousin, Lars.
No, the movies stars, the ones you see sing on tee vee.
He’s a rooster though, how can he carry a melody?
We were not sure, but this was a rare, bold, proud bird.
He could sing the phone book, to the point of being absurd.
The rest of the neighborhood knew about his antics too.
He mastered the chicken dance, a tango, and an old soft shoe....

My Friend Told Me This
Cooking is sexual and senual. Naught!
I must be distraught
To give this any more thought.
Be brave
Don't cave
Just smile, wave
And wonder how someone could get this
Deprave
Or caught
Up in such a thought.
All the heat
The sweat,
The mess, and the clean up isn't neat.
To be honest this is fought
With perils I wasn't taught.
I didn't feel any deceit just over wrought
Until I sought
As an after thought
The phone book for CALL IN--CARRY OUT....
