Premium Member The Alligator Poem
I was asked why I don’t pet alligators
Well, I replied
I petted one once
I petted one twice
Now I may need a hand

Untitled

Every time
I believe
That my heart can NEVER
Be broken again

An animal
Like the snow white cat
Even now lying on my porch
Proves me wrong

By such a simple thing
As to purr at me
When I petted her
      As she lay dying...

in need of comfort, he wanted to do the sly

Premium Member The Perils of Being Our Age
Dog demands attention and food.
Loves to be petted.
Rolls around on the floor like a pig in slop.
Legs in the air.
My husband claps.
I clap.
Her one trick.
She is the only baby who still lives with us.
The perils of being in our sixties....

Anna My Daughter
Anna fell in love with a Pterodactyl
They pecked and petted in a reflex tactile
                                                 She laid a big egg
                                                  In my duffel bag
And I found my grandson in a projectile...

Premium Member Comfortable Kitty
Soft meow's
silent footsteps
"cautious"
as her tail wags
swaying back and forth
quiet purrs
muttered
rising hairs
lay down
when petted
lap cuddling
body rubs- galore
feeling comfortably
"loved"
she stretches her paws

Premium Member Dog Chooses This Time
Keith brought his dog to the party.
He was tired of choosing women to like.
He was the worst judge of them.
His two ex-wives were proof of that.
Pug ran up to Ella and put his head on her knee.
She reached down and petted him. She seemed gentle.
He had always gone for wild women.
Keith walked over to apologize for his dog’s brazenness.
They had an instant connection....

Premium Member Leave My Kitten Alone
Inspired by Beatles' song: "Leave My Kitten Alone"
(Recently edited. The last line got left off.)

You petted her, then got bitten.
Who said you could touch my kitten?
She doesn’t like you, can’t you see?
She’ll only roll her ball with me!
Your cat nip won’t even tempt her.
Back off. Take that stuff away, sir.
Buster, "leave my kitten alone."
Go and get a cat of your own....

Buddy's World
I can see him on the streets of gold,
being petted by every one
Buddy never met a stranger on earth
His little short dashound legs able to run freely with no pain
Big Daddy and Mawmaw are feeding him
from their table, lamb chops, cream, fried chicken
The best there is to be had.
He has a fluffy warm pillow-bed and
A pure gold collar with mixed studded jewels.
Jesus loves him this I know....

Premium Member Spring Lawns
They long to be catered, treated, and trimmed.
They are like mortals hungry for manicures;
Like house pets pleading to be petted.
Many lawns are in a state of harm,
hindered by downpours of rain.
They envy the flowers and trees,
who have escaped a late freeze.
But they are endowed with patience.
They know that it won't be long now
before they will grace the properties
and wave gingerly as the cars rush by.

Animal Soul
I have a soul of a tiger
Ferocious and yet kind
When dared a pure avenger
 When petted meek and mild

And within my stripes I hide
Elusive and yet visible
The hunger in my soul provide
Path thru the invisible

Though hunted to extinction
I will surely survive
My love is an addiction
Which even the dead revive

Premium Member Merlin the Magic Cat
He's known as Merlin the Magic Cat.
What can we say about that?

He visits old folks in need of a friend
and comforts all those who are on the mend.

His purring is magic; his meow is sweet.
He loves being petted and waits for a treat.

He brings about laughter while chasing his toy.
He's the resident cat and always a joy.

A Dog For Sale
A dog for Sale,
A man who lived in a castle came over a scruffy
dog that belonged to Gypsies who lived under
canvas. The man took pity on the dog and paid
ten euros for it. The dog was groomed got its own
bed to sleep in and was petted; alas, the dog was
not impressed as it had been sold before.
When Gypsies left, they are always on the move,
the dog followed them, leaving behind the castle,
the bed and a puzzled man....

Bubble
(This is a fictional poem)

When I was born, I was in a lot of trouble.
I suffer from immune deficiency so I have to live in a bubble.
I've never kissed a girl or even petted a cat.
This bubble feels like prison and I really hate that.

I'm unable to be happy even though I try.
Other people have found happiness, why can't I?
Sometimes I want to leave my bubble so that it will kill me.
I'm so lonely that I cry because I'll never be free....

Premium Member Turquoise Sky, Golden Wings and Me
Freedom turquoise sky, golden wings and me
We are utterly delightfully unencumbered
Loved for ourselves
Admired
Petted

As we float happily on the golden wings
of happiness, sheer enthusiasm and joy
softly float precariously close to our best
friend tree, a twinkly, sparkly, tree of greenness and fun.

A quirky, tree, who has befriended me
And loved me
And taken care of me
Like the wind

Also free and
Fabulous!
I come back often.
To be admired and loved....

Premium Member My Neighbour and His Dog
My next door neighbour
Is out walking his dog
He carries baked goods
His wife had baked early
He cones to my door
Then rings my doorbell

With his dog by his side
When the door opens
The dog rushes inside
Right into the kitchen
Then rushes back to the
front door
I greet her pet her and speak

I know that she wants a treat
She eats the treat quickly
She sits and waits for more
Then comes to me to be petted
I pet her while speaking
Then they leave for home...

Premium Member This is the Midwest
You cannot exist unless you have a gun
This is the Midwest
You might want to kill a deer
Or an enemy
Or an enemy’s kin
Or an annoying grouse

Get your gun
Let’s practice shooting
We can shoot out windows
Or doors
Or people’s cars
This is the Midwest, we will be forgiven

Everyone has a gun
We all wanted to be sheriffs back in the day
No one will worry or call us thugs
We will be “good old boys”
Petted and loved,
Admired for our viciousness
There is a squirrel
Kill that....
