Epigram #68:

OXYMORON

A thousand words align,
Not a pun or wit can sign.

Premium Member The Wrong Song

A song to any other ear,
May just arrive as noise;

So Man,

Who could as well create,
Instead, Destroys.

Mankind - The first Oxymoron

BEEMED MOON

The moon, seeking light,
Nightly sneaks out to sunbathe;
Her fulfillment gained:-
What a phenomenal thing!
Sunbathing during the night:-

Constructive criticism,
A term oft misused.

In enhancing another's,
Daily performance.

Be politically correct,
and leave less abused.

Siamese Endowment

Keeping it to yourself,
while giving it away

Only poetry is split,
and structured this way

Keeping it to yourself,
then passing the torch

A deft oxymoron,
as light is re-sourced

Oxymoron

Crowded,
Yet lonely,
Not alone,
But outcast,

Satisfied,
Yet hungry,
For the things,
I will never have,

Disciplined,
Yet rebellious,
Eager to be free,
Someday,

Dedicated,
Yet impatient,
Might just snap
Any second now,

Premium Member Alone In A Crowd

Alone in a crowd, together with you, can be awfully good. I am a cheerful pessimist and so clearly misunderstood. Eloquent silence, no dull roar and some festive tranquility; you are my magic realism- my comfortable misery.

Thin Mints

Thin Mints, an oxymoron
Heavy Mints is spot on
I think willpower deserves a badge
Never can eat just one

My goal? To make a Scouts’ pledge
I hem and haw and hedge
No more cookies, I wail
Try as I might I fail
So I eat the whole sleeve instead

The Oxy-Moron!

Looking for a bittersweet beginning of the end,
Walking on and on straight round a bend -
I came upon a genius (so crazy),
Scrolling clearly confused with focus (so hazy)
Staring at his In-mail that he couldn't send!

Oxy-Moron

Drowning in oxygen,
Freezing burns,
Tight space,
Why is this all weirdly normal?
Everyone is clearly confused
Because suffering silently,
Obsessive love,
Slowing plummeting
Isn’t to you acting normal?
I’m rejecting humanities contradictions
We become oxymorons

My Life As An Oxymoron

I was a joke in their slam books
Until a new wardrobe changed my looks
The cool kids called me “pretty ugly”
Now I’m Homecoming royalty

I was a nerd in the eighth grade
Now I’m the it girl in a parade
Waving to the whole neighborhood
Triumph boiling in my blood

Premium Member Oxymoron- Silent Scream

quick as a molten drop of wax running down a dying candle, a single drop of salty tear left her sunken eyes' boundary making its way downwards and fell without a sound, crashing in bits, like pulverized shards of glassware. no one heard her soul's silent scream!

A Loud Silence

A prolonged loud silence
Shattering my belief
Baffling my spirit
Summoning an inevitable end
Of what we had between us
Shunning my existence
Severing the bond that tied us
The heart lies bruised by the callous attitude
And distance grows further between us
Nothing it seems stays forever.

Sex orgy

doing nothing save celebrating
pulse of innate aliveness
we are astonished
a path appears
upon which we tread
revitalising heart’s intent
aligned with God consciousness

an oxymoron

yet feeling separate
we surf the waves

The Road

Roads ahead i see no way to go
Troubled, inadequate what way to go
Mesmerized, hanging on, oh anima of justice
Free my demons, hide no more i came to conquer
Discover the deep, recover from pain, live the pain
I own the pain, days are to come i shall overcome
I am who i am, enlightening, oxymoron
I am human.

For: OXYMORON Poetry Contest * Sponsor: Nette Onclaud * August 31, 2025

Silent scream of dreams escaping
into reality becomes
meaningless sound of words as if
my ears are muffled by prattle
of life never moving into
the bold technicolor passion
that poets have defined as love
and promised to me forever.
