Premium Member Mrs Grafftin Wheelchair Designer
Few oldsters or broken-sters travel in their wheelchairs in style.
Mrs. Graffitin is an exception, her uniqueness makes all of us smile.
Her foot was gnawed off sixty years ago by a blubbering crocodile.
She is a wheelchair designer, and her wheelchair is always in style....

Premium Member Covid19 Vaccinations
Many of we oldsters have already received the covid19 vaccination.

Soon all who want it will receive the shot in states across the nation.

Yet, TV news keeps needlin' us showin' 12 inch needles pokin' the shoulder joint!

You would think by now that we should've all received the "point"!...

Premium Member Ice Castle
frosty twinkly ice castle
gleaming in the north park
dazzlingly sparkly
freshly created
effervescent and admirable
visited by those who love frozen things,
enticing children
delighting oldsters
designed by artisans
reviving childhood memories
today freshly iced
a confection of beauty
 giving new meaning to frost...

Premium Member The Gentrification of Main Street
Main Street had a classic pool hall,
Hustlers, chisellers, and those who like to fool all,
Second-hand stores along the way,
And the old Helen's Grill greasy spoon café.

Now, Main Street's no longer the same;
Developers and yuppies have changed the game.
They say it’s all for common good,
But the oldsters miss their good old neighbourhood....

Premium Member Ribbons of Life
pink hair ribbons
pasted on baby’s bald head
flashy pretend girly

replaced by red ribbons
prancing up and down in five-year-old’s locks
at Christmas program, delighting oldsters

ribbons of white
displays of chastity
on bridal ground, next to pearls and roses

satin ribbon pleats in grandma’s coffin
she looks tiny and pretty
with her girly bald head...

Premium Member Oldsters Are Not All the Same
Let’s go see the quilt maker my aunt suggested.
The quilter was an old woman.
I did not like oldsters, but I was polite about it.

The quilt maker had a lively sense of humor.
She and I became friends.
Later, good friends.
And now best friends.

I learned that oldsters are not all the same.
She taught me this in all the right ways.
I am now learning how to make a quilt too....

Premium Member Now Is Your Time
No matter how many you’ve had
your birthdays shouldn’t make you sad.
You are free to wear unmatched plaid
and not tolerate fools.
For oldsters not a thing’s forbad.
You’re allowed to break rules.

Don’t worry about growing old.
It is your turn now to be bold.
Be proud of the years you’ve been doled.
It is time to have fun.
Don’t listen to what you’ve been told.
Golden Years have begun.

Won no. 5...

Premium Member September Leaf Shower
The leaf shower was scheduled to begin at noon.
We ran outside and began the Come Down Dance.
The oldsters came out to their porches, none too soon.
The leaves began to drop, as the squirrels prance.

How did you know? Someone asked who did not know.
This happens every year, I informed him with a glance.
Took his hand and made him frolic until he yelled “whoa!”
Some people do not understand the Come Down Dance....

Premium Member Christmas Mouse Wants To Be An Ornament
I want to be an ornament when I grow up the mouse said.
Did he want to be on the side of green or red?
Holly voted for green Santa wanted him on his team.
The relatives laughed; grandma said that would be a pipe dream.

What if I just hung out in the tree and did not take sides at all?
He hung out happily in a Christmas tree shopping mall.
The youngster was wise, the oldsters in the family said.
For not choosing green and not choosing red....

Premium Member We Are Going To Die
We are surrounded said the young whipping boy. There was terror in his voice.
“We are going to DIE!” he screamed.
The more mature crew members knew better.
They had been surrounded before, many times.
They kept their cool.
Just for fun the Captain shouted, “WE’RE GOING TO DIE!”
A first mate pushed the whipping boy into the water.
The crocodiles got him quickly.
This set the oldsters up for a laughing contest.
They began to advertise for their next whipping boy too....
