He sits in the nursing home confined to a wheechair for the rest of his life, still able to think, a prisoner in his own body.
i was young and dumb
i say this with a thump
i love rum
and a good fruit plump
no longer am i a folder

OLDER AND BOLDER
As I've grown older, I've found,
that my body has gotten more round,
as I try it,
another new diet,
I always add another pound.
As I've grown older, I've found,
that my body has gotten more round.
As I try it,
another new diet,
I always add another pound.
Would a world full of talking cats every speak to each other
or would a world full of dogs be free to bark
I don't own the world
or even claim a spot
'Living with an angel
That's so true
She makes my life
Worth going through!
I'm getting older
But that's not sad
I'm eating ice cream
On a heating pad!
It may be a truism to surmise
That as we get older
We get wiser.
It may also be equally as true
That as we get older
We simply run out of
Stupid things to do.
Life just speeds on by with a new Mercedes-Benz.
I sit here in a Model-T.
Not knowing where I am,
Or where I’m going.
All I know is,
Life moves faster than I do.

if they found the fountain of youth
I wouldn't drink a drop
and that is the truth
"Older you become
Further back is your back seat
Take to everything."

"When you fight a fight
You are fighting for or against
It as recognized."

older is not always wiser
a saying proven wrong many times
I have met many wise children
they recognize the power of love
whereas dementia is often overlooked in elders who were never wise
lovely lively lithe lambs leaping
making merry without peeping
nurtured by nature’s natural safekeeping
older sheep’s aged joints are creaking
pleasure in seeing little lambs, they’re seeking
how times fly
how quick you had grown
then you flew the nest and had
little families of your own
i know you are busy and dont stay in touch
but no matter what happens
your always welcome home
Seeing an immature fellow acting the fool
Say it like it is, “got shoes older than you”
Smarten up me buckeroo
Your jeans are full of poop
It's been suggested you go back to school

Oh my fellow mortals,
Shouldn't we stop complaining for getting older
When
We very well know, that it is the only way for us
Alive to stay?

Last week my foot was hurting
The next day was my neck
after that my shoulder
I've sure become a wreck
Currently my knee hurt
but I know it won't for long
It's sure to be forgotten
as a new pain comes along
when lights are dimmed and sunsets turn opaque
who’ll be there to tell you “i told you so”?
i know i’d win crying contests
and all my mind does is protest
“why did i wish to grow older?”
now i’m scared that i’m older
There is a way to tell if we are just growing older
or truly growing old…
or so I have been told….
If we’re still having fun each year we are just growing older
when we stop having fun…that’s when we grow old.
Older witches use buckets along with their broom
It’s the best way for them to safely dive, glide and zoom
They sometimes come in the window and fly around the room
sometimes hitting people in the head with their wayward broom
Aging is not easy, some days one feels like a sloth; lethargic.
Sometimes one feels as though eating is, a dreaded and exhausting chore.
But, one day you’ll realize, that bump on the log, is yourself!
For I am growing older you see
It's not easy to be me
Now that I am sixteen
I'm not gonna waste my time
On lost endless rhymes
I'm gonna free myself
And say what I want
For writing poetry is my passion
And what I can't live without

A mother's love,
wings of a dove,
will cover me.
Starting my life,
with a midwife,
a baby cries.
Growing older,
always for me,
loving shoulder.
Life without you,
I cry daily,
so very blue.
Time ticks,
age sticks.
Forever growing,
never slowing.
Getting older,
feel it too,
oh youth, if you only knew!
Been there,
done that,
wrote the book.
It's there to see,
just take a look.
I've made my mark,
done my time.
Getting old is not a crime.

AFRICAN SUNSET
Watching the sun sinking into a golden horizon,
My heart’s glad as I watch the evening sky siphon,
The scorching heat from an African day,
Giving reprieve to all life that may,
Rest until the morrow, now a day older and wizen!
