Notes About The Poem

African Sunset

AFRICAN SUNSET

Watching the sun sinking into a golden horizon,
My heart’s glad as I watch the evening sky siphon,
The scorching heat from an African day,
Giving reprieve to all life that may,
Rest until the morrow, now a day older and wizen!

It can reach temperatures of 41 - 42 degrees C. Over Christmas we had many casualties admitted to hospital. Cool, clear water, lets enjoy it while we can Lovely comment Connie, thank-you. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer

The image you paint with words brings to mind pictures of South African sunsets, Jenny, the type one sees on geographic magazines! ~ Warm regards & Hugs // paul

Thank-you Jack - an unusually warm sunny day in winter - wrapped up warmly this morning but by middle of the day start stripping! Temperature today ranged from 1 degree centigrade to at the moment 25 degrees! Btterly cold at night - last year our winter nights went down to -4 degrees. Hugs Jenny

G'day Jennifer … sunsets appear to offer a calmness and a time to reflect upon the days efforts. A wonderful verse for a wonderful time of the day - thank you Jennifer - Lindsay

Hi Lindsay, whether South Africa or Australia, we have the same beautiful sunsets across miles of scrubland - I couldn't live anywhere else in the world, perhaps Australia though! Thanks for an awesome comment, Hugs, Jennifer.

Thank-you Gordon - yes our summer evenings are normally a little cooler, but this last December we hit 41 degrees in our driveway - it was unbearable - had four fans blowing in our bedroom alone, and the sliding door open besides all the windows. March is a great month as is September - thanks Gordon, I'm sure it will be. Blessings and hugs, Jennifer.

Thank-you Barry, Yes here in Africa, the cool of the evening can soothe and absorb the heat of the day, but sometimes it gets so hot in the middle of summer you can't even open your front door but stay inside with air cons. or fans indoors! Glad you enjoyed, Hugs, Jennifer.
