Painful Falls

It's nature's will in Autumn trees—
To slip out of offbeat colors.
There lay crushed prose he saw through her.
My unattached ground still does bleed
From raked walks on lanes— those who leave.

Premium Member Bizarre

What means this word, bizarre? Quirky in appearance and character- offbeat! Strange, by far! Platypus has Beaver's tail, duck's bill, and webbed feet. Pizzazz! Revered Yet bittersweet! Weird. What means this word, bizarre? Beaver's tail, duck's bill, and webbed feet. Weird!

So sublime my dream that I want to scream, for a guy who is a sweet offbeat character; he is kind, gentle and helps where he can, this sort of wonderful man appeals to me ! I wish that I could be his forever girl friend, with love to transcend that grows over time.

A Bluegrass Band

You have to have a banjo
To get that Bluegrass sound
 The bass is a necessity
 To nail the rhythm down

When the fiddler plays a lead
It shoots tingles up your spine
A guitar helps to keep the beat
Or pick the melody line

The Mandolin’s offbeat chop
Makes the Bluegrass whole
Greater than the sum of the parts
 This music’s solid gold

Slam Time - So You Think You Can Rhyme

you think you can rhyme
your words out of time
like a dancer offbeat
you step and repeat
you sound like a fool
your mouth open to drool
trying to take me down
like bozo the clown
no words to be heard
and nothing to say
so you flip them the bird
then you walk away
like a sucker in a suit
you're better off mute

Im Sorry Daddy

What was I thinking
I should have prepared
Offbeat was my blinking
It’s clear, I don’t care

I’m only a fraud
Incompetent fake
An average facade
Even that isn’t great

Unfortunate victims
Who saw false potential
It seems that I’ve tricked them
With phony credentials

Make no mistake
This is not a confession
I, too, took the bait
Subconscious deception

Premium Member The Dance of Anger

The Dance of Anger…

A weary waltz,
on a sheenless floor.
Offbeat music
gyrates an endless cycle.
On two, accent anxiety’s weakness
Syncopated rhythms erupt.
Love songs
are a miss.
Vinyl scratched,
for a touch
a large charge
or a bit of blood.*
Choreographed to move timely and allay tears.
Uncrazy!
Dance to a different drum.

Wisdom he passed on to school children in his travels. Active man with no pretenses. Good Man that was a recovering alcoholic Oasis of knowledge. Nature had captivated his lifestyle. Joining him in his travels were Sugar Foot his saddle horse. Offbeat from the mainstream lifestyle. His home, two covered wagons pulled by six mules. Negativity had no part of his life.

Young Woman - Gone

She was a woman
who fought for her rights

Struck down by a
mindless murderer

An offbeat note
in a symphony of hate

Her legs will no longer
traverse the green campus

All of her love
Her desires for the future
ended

A newspaper tells
this tale
An empty seat in the
class

Just as spring returns
So life will continue

The earth still revolves
Around the sun
Minus one

Knows a Lot

Her nose was slightly big I saw
When at first we were to meet
Not enough to call a flaw
But only just a tad offbeat

She said, "I think on you I will grow"
I asked,"Is that what you suppose?"
She said, "No, I know what I know"
Smiling, I said,"That's a lot of knows!"

Then she did something very sad
She stomped off with no goodbye
I could see she was very mad
Then I knew what I said was why!

EBONY WE ON THE WAY

Beating our drums
singing our songs
rhythmically
foot printing
our hued feet
with eyes
still on the prize
and the summit
brightly in sight
we be proudly
marching
in blues-jazz
liberty
faithfully assured
no sisyphus-like
rocky rolling
oppression tappings
can get us offbeat
in our sojourn
to mountain to
liberation
awaiting
the dream’s
reality
for the ebony we:-

Awkward Space

Limericks as stanzas.. is that a thing?

In a little corner, by the window
A tiny, potted, plant does grow
Odd and unconventional
Awfully untraditional
But this is where I tend to go

Something that feels so out of place
Rejected, awkward, filler space
An offbeat
Few square feet
In my mind, along the lines, I trace

We share a moment every single day
When our time is up, I want to stay
Feet hit floor
Out the door
The world around looks beige and grey

Premium Member Unstructured Grace

Sugar cubes and coffee grounds
May skies beckon birds soaring
Sunlit paths lead to fields of gold
An exodus from darknesses’ gloom
Sail away to transitional fame
In route to where u’re meant to be
Appeal scorn’s judgement of you
A freedom sought is one to cherish
Pages turn and chapters burn
Poetic notes break the mold
Offbeat tales bold and untold
Dare to carve thru the untamed path
Play in the margins where rules decay
Strive to recognize unstructured grace

Fear

The ever growing sense of danger
prevails through
sweat and quick glances,
the shadow ballet
with offbeat dances.
The melodrama playing out in your heart
vibrating with each beat.
All in the synaptic choir
singing the intro of your panic.
As the people start to chant
while tension wounds even tighter,
the warrior in you the fighter
comes through.
To save the day and be a hero
from the pain staking moments
leading to and fro
that equals to nothing less
than pure fear.
