The Sad Story of Myrtle

There once was a turtle named Myrtle
Stuck in a plastic ring girdle
It altered her mass
Into an hourglass
Leaving her deformed and infertile.

Myrtle Wins

Myrtle, the sea turtle
Wore a sports girdle.
With green sneakers shoes.
She ran a fast race
Won for style first place.
Went viral, millions of views.

sad thoughts began to calm down
divorce had seemed like the end of her world
but there is something vastly calming about the sea
Myrtle Beach was healing her gladly

Myrtle's Big Hurdle

There once was a proud lady named Myrtle
To overcome a very big hurdle --
   She inhaled very hard
Sucked up all her lard --
Then squeezed into her wedding-day's girdle

Red Wheelbarrow

The red wheelbarrow
with its cement smudges
and rusty scratches
dwarfs the white rabbit
nibbling young lettuce
covered in morning dew
next to the flowering
crepe myrtle.

Crepe Myrtle

The Crepe Myrtle bursts
raspberry exuberance
in early August's burning.
Now's when I miss you.
Soon alder leaves like hearts bleed
red, pass my window churning.

Flowers

crepe myrtle
fluffy gorgeous pinks
daring fall

lilac
long time dormant
first one up in May

daffodil
happily waving
feeling her beauty

dandelion
misunderstood and alone
feeling unwanted

Fertile Turtle On Beach Named Myrtle

Fertile Turtle On Beach Named Myrtle

We finally found out she had been fertile;
And marooned on a beach named Myrtle;
Her spoil;
A big boil;
Each egg did turn out to be a tiny turtle.

not a whisper of a breeze

sun greets me warmly
extra humid this morning
air feels muggy

trees at a standstill
not a whisper of a breeze
horrible august

nothing is breathing
flowers praying for some dew
pink crepe myrtle nods

Cornucopia of Pageantry

Sukkot's a holiday seven days long
supplies to buy, a home to build
No one's inside in our neighborhood

  The fragrance of myrtle
    the esrog's beauty
  Cornucopia of pageantry
    harvest's heavenly booty

Myrtle Girdle

Alas this is a tale of overweight Myrtle
With help from ladies getting into her girdle,
They stressed and strained and pulled so hard,
When an exploding Myrtle caught them all off guard,
The ladies were placed in great peril.

Winter Wonderland

Winter Wonderland
Winter wonderland, white icing on brown cake, mister nor’easter’s icy breath, snow- tires spin helplessly, caught in eider down drifts, I would rather be in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina!

MAPLES

    Majestic maple trees,
    Mixed coloured autumn leaves.
    Mirrored on cool waters,
    Montage miscellanies.
    Myrtle, flame, silvered streaks,
    Magenta, edged with gold,
    Moonlight bliss, lovers kiss.

Galactic Gothic

The Age of Man
Is but a brief, abbreviated span
Of seconds ticking in a moment’s course.
Infinity: the final source
Is like a charnel house, with cypress tree
And yew and myrtle, growing in the graves of Space,
Where decomposes Time’s own face.

Ablaze

Crepe Myrtle ablaze, set afire
By sunbeams peeking through
A heavy damp fog that settles
And kisses the fresh dew

Golden leaves contrast the Myrtles
Those leaves on the pecan
And amber needles hang weighted
Lovely in the new dawn

Flamboyant Blossoms

Scorching sun, baking earth
Wilted flowers, dried shrubs
Vibrant hues of Crape Myrtle
Lively displays of brilliance
Clusters of flamboyant blossoms
White, pink, red, lavender and purple
Crinkled paper resemblance
Astonishing dramatic marvels

Candied Apples Are Too Sweet

Candied apples are too sweet for that scraggly wayward horse
What would this old dude know? His name is crow jimmy morse
myrtle ignored what he had to say, giving the horse a sweet that day.
She was glad she did later, for that night, the joyful horse passed away.

reflective sand of Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach has reflective sand the seagulls reported
We had to see for ourselves, for it did not make sense.
With our naked eye, we could not see it, in any way.
However, there it was when the photos were developed.
Do seagulls see better than we do?
Apparently so.

Lorelei of the Leaves

See how the lowly myrtle seduces the lordly pine. She entwines her arms around him, he submits. Beneath them falls their issue: not flesh, nor sinew, nor bone, Only, sweet symmetrical cone, its perfect whorls and burls, the best of both worlds.

Prunellas Majestic Myrtles

Prunella loved the color purple, planting some lovely Crepe Myrtle’s; they had a humongous growth spurt, all due to her nitro-rich dirt, now her yard’s a Myrtle hurdle.
