bliss suffused
emptiness
is the norm
we look not
in the past
or ahead
all that is
is this now
where we dwell
Heads or tails, either which ways,
options will present themselves
and we’ll go through the motions,
vibrant and blissful.
Mike The Monk had a habit,
He liked to eat fresh oysters.
He'd buy a dozen to take away,
And swallow them in the cloisters.
sublime inner peace
sitting beside a babbling brook ~
a monk meditates

Silently
The monk stood watching
From the path
As I passed
I noticed it had no face…
Trembling, I ran home
For Kim’s Shadorma contest
Thelonius Monk
we must credit with the first ever Tomahawk Dunk
in between riffs
he was in no way discouraged by his occasional whiffs.
A monk, hooded
A nun, veiled.
Offputting as tis odd
In seeing.
For what's exposed
As permits
Of worldly light, my face
To smile in.
sensory delight
captivates our attention
negating the light of Self
be this as it may
as a nonchalant witness
we are free within the dream
If intent be pure,
outcomes as may be any,
oh hermit, all’s forgiven.
Nonjudgmental eye
observes waves in the ocean,
according no preference.
A candle flame fluttered and vanished
For, it wished not to be tarnished.
Said, "Ye monk, in mind your deeds black,
Character is what a man does dark!"
Form:
onset of angst is noticed by soul’s eye
it should not be there yet it is
ripples surface and we feel our heart sigh
we dissolve delusion in love’s bliss fizz
Private and peaceful
His life, his world.
And of that, perfected
The thinking man .
Ere its garden's air
Garden's allure
For a woman, sounded.
Smiled for woman.
There once was a monk with a wave
Who desired a head with a shave ...
Well, the barber was such
That she cut back too much
Thereby leaving his globus concave
A Monk finds a skull
A skull finds a monk
Both exchanges death
5-5-5
In, within but not of the world,
in cave of heart with bliss mists curled,
soul at peace, radiates God’s light,
vibrant both by day and by night,
joyous as flag of love’s unfurled.
Can you see
What it is to be
A self-published
Poet?
They laugh
They scoff
You can’t be good
Just because
Ur under a hood
Don’t make you a monk
But you won’t get me
Stuck in a funk
An old wizen monk
Lived high in the mountains
Miles from the nearest settlement
He spent his days
Deep in mediation
On the bubble of illusion
One day drinking tea
He reached nirvana,
The monk parakeet, decked out in lime green,
In communal nests they can oft be seen.
To raise kids, they don't depend on granny.
Instead, they hire a helper or nanny.
favours asked, sets into motion
ripples emoting emotion
universe may bind or be kind
yet boundless joy we never find
save sipping, divine love potion
11-December-2021
the serenade of garbage trucks
banging there way through the night.
the flight of pigeons under a street light.
a puddle has memory of a bicycle tires imprint
as the water parts.
exodus is for us to take.
neither seeking
nor resisting
aspect unclinging
the current
carries us
form decays
values shift
thoughts recede
we vaporise
yet exist
shape shifting
we become
the mist
all pervading
God’s light
The Monk and His Genes
George Gregor Mendel.
Socialized with beans and tendrils.
He never planned to marry
After he and genes did tarry.

Poetic form: Clerihew
Silence is a monk
in a mountain
of deep
In meditation
Of heart
Silence is a water
In drench
In dream
Silence in his talk
whispering
within sough
Silence is a monk
In crystal
secret in depose
in his heart
Form:
this dream unfolds; why carry stress
whilst ensconced in divine caress
let nonchalant be our response
with love divine, our steadfast sconce
from path of truth, never digress

MENDICANT MONK
As a mendicant monk
my empty begging bowl
glistens in the moonlight,
yet this is the path
I surrender to in life.
Another night of chanting
with a growling stomach
caving in empty, empty
belly, empty mind. I sit
in the void of reality.
