There was Louie the fly
Who’d want to fly by
There was Madge who
Soaked your hands in Palmolive goo
There was the Rolladoor song
That Geelong supporters sing along
Your Mum Mister Sheened your furniture
To a sparkling shine so sure
These commercials I remember on television 
That as soon as I think of them they are in my vision.

Drinking those songs like anesthesia, old
Things now, but lasting more brightly to bring
A sense of distance from the lost, and a sense
Longing for the past, a sense of wanting things
To last, and the past to try again some part
While from away the haunting song teases the heart...

On rye if you please
Not from the deep freeze
I like a fresh roll
It comforts my soul
Lettuce would be nice
And a dash of spice 
Paprika’s my vice

Coffee nice and hot
From the  freshest pot
Add a double shot
Served by a miss Madge
Displayed on her badge
I gather my tray
She smiles when I say
Please have a nice day
